The Straw Hat Pirates are the main characters of One Piece, and they are also among the strongest on the seas right now in the story. They are known to be a Yonko crew, a status they officially gained after the defeat of the Beast Pirates in the Land of Wano.
The Straw Hat Pirates possess some very powerful Devil Fruit users and strong Haki users as well. In both cases, these pirates possess some unique transformations that raise their overall fighting capabilities to the next level. Whenever the Straw Hats are facing powerful enemies, they manage to evolve their combat abilities to a whole new level using these unique transformations. Not all of these transformations are equally powerful. Some are certainly far stronger than others.
One Piece's New Elbaf Arc Powers Make The Straw Hats Stronger Than Shanks Crew
The Straw Hat Pirates are receiving some big power ups in the Elbaf arc, and they're now stronger than Shanks fearsome Red Hair crew.
7 Franky's Shogun
- Unlocked By Franky In: Timeskip
Franky doesn't have traditional transformations in One Piece. Instead, his strongest transformation comes through the use of a giant battle armor that he calls Shogun Franky. It is certainly incredibly impressive. Franky created it at some point during the timeskip, and he only uses it when he's up against strong enemies.
In the Wano Country Arc, he utilized its power against Sasaki and was able to push back the Tobi Roppo with it. Franky Shogun is also equipped with the Victory Sword, and with it, he can deal some terrific slicing damage. This transformation certainly isn't the most impressive in One Piece, but it does rank among the best, especially since it is made with wapometal, which is known to retain its shape and sustain heavy damage.
6 Chopper's Monster Point
- Unlocked By Chopper: Before Drum Island
Chopper has the power of the Hito Hito no Mi, and that means he has multiple transformations up his sleeve. Out of all of his transformations, the one that stands out the most is Monster Point. This is a powerful ability that sees Chopper make use of his rumble balls, and it transforms him into an absolutely mammoth of a reindeer. Chopper gains tremendous physical strength as well as incredible durability when he utilizes this transformation. Against Kumadori of the CP9, he was able to defeat him in just a single blow, and that was truly terrifying. However, Chopper did not have control over this transformation before the timeskip.
After the timeskip, Chopper has shown complete control over it. What's more, in the Wano Country arc, thanks to the help from Cesar, Chopper was able to evolve Monster Point even further, to the point that he can now utilize it for 30 minutes. When he did so, he was even able to hold his own against a Yonko Commander. It is not the strongest Straw Hat transformation, but certainly a very impressive one.
5 Luffy's Gear 2
- Unlocked By Luffy In: Enies Lobby
Luffy's Gear 2 is one of the most iconic transformations in One Piece, and to some, probably the most iconic one of all. However, in the Final Saga of One Piece, this certainly ranks among the weakest Straw Hat transformation that the fans have seen.
Gear 2nd essentially allows Luffy to utilize the rubbery aspect of his body to the absolute fullest. Luffy can pump blood way faster and essentially create manual doping. Because of this increased blood pressure, Luffy becomes much stronger overall as well as faster. His fighting capabilities go up by one level, and he is then able to overwhelm even the likes of powerful monsters such as Rob Lucci, as was seen in the Enies Lobby arc. While a strong transformation, it certainly doesn't rank as the strongest in the post-timeskip.
4 Robin's Demonio Fleur
- Unlocked By Robin In: Wano Country
In the Wano Country arc, Nico Robin tapped into a unique transformation that stems from her Devil Fruit, called Demonio Fleur. This transformation allows Robin to become absolutely massive in size, resembling a demonic version of herself. She even sports giant bat-like wings, as well as horns and sharp fangs.
As to how this transformation is accessed remains unknown, but it goes without saying that it is one of the most powerful transformations. With it, Robin was able to take care of Black Maria, one of the strongest members of the Tobi Roppo, rather easily.

3 Luffy's Gear 4
- Unlocked By Luffy In: Timeskip
Monkey D. Luffy's Gear 4 is quite easily a very powerful transformation, and it still ranks among the strongest, even in the Final Saga of One Piece. Gear 4 sees Luffy pump air into his muscles, turning into a much more muscular and giant version of himself, and then utilizes maximum-level Haki to maintain high elasticity and tension. While Luffy's rubber powers usually rely on him stretching, Gear 4 works on the power of compression that comes with rubber, and that is why it is able to unleash high levels of power.
3 Yonko Level Female Characters In One Piece
One Piece has a lot of powerful female characters, but only a handful of them are Yonko level.
-
Gear 4 uses Haki quite a lot, but Luffy has managed to use it uniquely over the years. With Gear 4, Luffy has access to multiple transformations such as Snake Man, Bounce Man, and even Tank Man. It goes without saying that Gear 4 is not the strongest transformation that Luffy has right now, but it is certainly one of the most versatile. In the Elbaf arc, Luffy has shown the ability to utilize Gear 4 in just his limbs without undergoing the full transformation.
2 Sanji's Germa Mode
- Unlocked By Sanji In: Wano Country
Sanji is one of the strongest fighters within the ranks of the Straw Hat Pirates and quite easily a monster in its own right. While traditionally, Sanji did not rely on transformations in battle, this changed in the Wano Country Arc, where his Germa genetic modifications finally awakened after putting on the raid suit three times. Once awakened, Sanji could fully access the Germa mode, although he doesn't seem to have any control over it.
At the moment, whenever Sanji is enraged, his eyebrows flip direction, and as that happens, Sanji becomes much stronger. This does not give him any visual change, other than the eyebrow swirling in the opposite direction, but the strength boost is apparent. Sanji gains an exoskeleton that is nearly impossible to penetrate, and he gains an incredibly high recovery factor on top of that. What's more, Sanji also gains more muscle mass, and this makes him far stronger than his usual base state. In this form, Sanji can sustain even hotter flames that he calls Ifrit Jambe, and they are strong enough to dismantle even a Yonko commander with ease.
1 Luffy's Gear 5
- Unlocked By Luffy In: Wano Country
Undoubtedly, the strongest Straw Hat transformation in One Piece belongs to Luffy, and that is Gear 5. Gear 5 is essentially the Devil Fruit awakening of the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika, and it is an incredible power. This ability gives Luffy a unique transformation as a signature of the Mythical Zoan class. Luffy's rubbery body and powers are pushed beyond all limits, and he even starts affecting his surroundings, which is, curiously enough, a trait of the Paramecia types. More than that, Luffy gains a tremendous strength boost, and most importantly, he gains the power to bring his imagination into reality. Luffy's only limit is his own imagination. In all the world, Gear 5 is the most ridiculous power to ever exist, and this has canonically been stated by Oda himself.
