Three different Legend of Zelda video game projects have been detailed by three separate leakers, meaning at least one of them (if not all of them) is likely to be wrong, but each one is as enticing as the next. Suffice it to say, if all of these Legend of Zelda rumors and leaks prove to be true, then the next few years could be a real treat for fans. And at the very least, the timelines add up because Tears of the Kingdom is officially 3-years-old. That one hurts.

The first Legend of Zelda rumor, and seemingly the most reliable, suggests that an Ocarina of Time Remake will hit Nintendo Switch 2 this holiday season, so at least fans don't have a long wait on this one. The next hint that Ganondorf is receiving his own 2D game, akin to Zelda herself in Echoes of Wisdom. Finally, a few details have leaked regarding the next Zelda game following Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom.

Nintendo Switch 2 gamers will soon be treated to a game that could help fill the Zelda-shaped void in the console's library.

Travel to the Past to Save The Princess in Ocarina of Time in 2026 (Wisdom)

Known Leaker Nate the Hate has stated that the big Holiday game this year for the Nintendo Switch 2 will be a remake of Ocarina of Time, which, as one of the highest rated games of all time, is an exciting claim. Nate the Hate didn't say more than that, but if it ends up being true, it has to be assumed that the reveal would come during Nintendo's big Summer Direct. It remains to be seen, of course, but Nate the Hate made a few other claims when they initially leaked the Ocarina of Time Switch 2 remake, namely that a new Star Fox game would be announced by Nintendo soon and that Splatooon Raiders was releasing in summer 2026. Both proved true, so fingers crossed that Nate the Hate goes 3/3 here.

Pursue Strength as Ganondorf in a New 2D Game in 2027 (Power)

Nash Weedle's track record is not as strong as Nate the Hate's, but they are still worth listening to, more so than many random users on the internet. According to them, sometime after the release of the Ocarina of Time remake, Nintendo will reveal and confirm a new 2D Zelda game for 2027. Developed by Nintendo and Grezzo, this new game uses the same engine as Echoes of Wisdom and is likely to follow Ganondorf as a protagonist. It's not much, but it's easy to see how Ocarina of Time and a new Ganondorf game could be an epic 1-2 punch akin to 2023's Tears of the Kingdom and 2024's Echoes of Wisdom.

Tear Through Reality in the Next Legend of Zelda Open World Game in 2028 or Beyond (Courage)

Finally, there's the next major mainline 3D entry in the Legend of Zelda franchise, said to be using the same engine as Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom (with enhancements) by Spheshal Nick. Nick's track record is pretty solid in most aspects, so I'd put his claims right alongside Nate the Hate's. It'll be set in the same world as BotW and TotK, although it's uncertain if this would be the ever-rare threequel in the franchise, and it'll expand the realm of Hyrule with new dimensions. This dimension-hopping gameplay is also used to complete puzzles by creating tears in reality. Nick gives two primary examples: using a charging bull in one dimension to hit a target to open a door in a new one; using water in one dimension to pour into another and flood a pool-like room.

Jeff Grubb was speaking with Nick on the XboxEra Podcast when Nick revealed this info from a source, and while Grubb himself did not have this info, it made perfect sense to him. In fact, Grubb said that it being about 2-3 years away as of late 2025 (putting it in a 2027-2029) makes sense to him, given Tears of the Kingdom's release date and Nintendo's overall game development pipeline.

The Tri-Force of Zelda Game Leaks

Overall, it's worth mentioning that these games should all be taken with a grain of salt, but the way they line up neatly (Ocarina of Time remake in 2026, Ganondorf in 2027, and open-world Zelda game sometime thereafter) is interesting, as they do not seem to be more coordinated than Nash Weedle being aware of the Ocarina of Time remake leak. It remains to be seen, but hopefully, the Ocarina of Time remake is confirmed sooner rather than later. That won't necessarily add credence to these other Zelda games, especially because they all come from different leakers, but it would add a little more weight to the idea being right.

When and where that happens is, as of this writing, unknown. We can only speculate that it'll happen at a Nintendo Direct in June, given that Summer Game Fest, Xbox Games Showcase, and PlayStation State of Play, but Nintendo has yet to confirm even that.
