The Naruto series is one of the most incredible stories in the world of anime and manga. Despite it having ended years ago, it is still very popular. With other major shonen series like One Piece getting a remake, it is time for Naruto to return once again with a completely modern take and a storytelling format that engages today's audience more, and shows them why it is a legendary story that has etched its name in history. Naruto deserves a remake more than one would like to admit, not just because it is old, but also because the previous adaptation by Studio Pierrot limits its potential greatly, just like Toei Animation does with One Piece.

How One Piece Received A New Anime Adaptation By Wit Studio

One Piece New Anime Adaptation Wit Studio

One Piece and Naruto are both old anime series that are still incredibly popular to this day. It can be said that they are among the two most popular anime across the globe. Despite that, their anime series don't quite compare to some of the other incredible productions of recent years, such as Jujutsu Kaisen, Demon Slayer, and many others. While in terms of story and writing these series are head and shoulders above the rest, the fact is that the production doesn't quite live up to the standard set by modern anime series.

To fix that, One Piece recently announced an anime remake, which is currently being worked upon by Wit Studio. The main reason why One Piece's anime remake is even happening is Eiichiro Oda, the author of the series, who made his desire to produce a modern take on One Piece that would engage a younger audience known. Under the leadership of George Wada, Wit Studio started working on the incredible story of One Piece all over again, only this time, with cutting-edge technology and modern animation methods, compressing the story and delivering a product like never seen before. Evidently, Naruto suffers from similar issues as One Piece when it comes to the anime form, and for that reason, it also deserves an anime remake, sooner or later.

Why Naruto Deserves A Fresh Reboot Anime Soon

The Naruto series is quite old, having first begun airing in 2003. For its time, the Naruto series was quite a stellar production, and even to this day, some of its episodes stand tall among the best animated ones of all time. To be clear, Naruto's animation is still incredible and holds up even today, but there are issues that go deeper than just animation with the series, which is why it needs a fresh reboot. For starters, the pacing of the Naruto series can be dramatically improved in a new story. Naruto has over 600 episodes, and what's more, the vast majority of them are filler. For a new fan, jumping from canon to filler and skipping past canon episodes at all times isn't exactly fun. It takes away a lot of the enjoyment and immersion.

More than that, Naruto suffers from consistency issues, just like One Piece. While some of its episodes are absolutely incredible and still rank among the best animated episodes of all time, some others are incredibly weak and subpar. In modern anime productions, which usually have only 12 to 24 episodes per season, this is usually not the case. Most episodes are produced incredibly well, and the studio is given adequate time to produce them. If this approach is taken with Naruto, then an incredible product can be delivered that is paced far better and is more consistent, delivering incredible quality across the board.

Assessing The Latent Potential Of A Franchise Remake

naruto series potential popularity Image by GameRant

The latent potential that the Naruto franchise carries is immense. It must be remembered that Naruto has not seen a new anime release for almost 10 years now. Despite that, it is one of the most talked-about series in the entire world, yet slowly and steadily, its influence is dying, and that needs to be revived with a new anime series.

If Naruto were to get a remake, fans would once again start talking about it, and what's more, a younger generation would start investing hours into it, opening themselves to a world of immense quality. Naruto would easily become one of the best anime series in the modern era, and stand shoulder to shoulder with some of the best-produced stories out there. Above all, it would bring a ton of money for both Studio Pierrot and TV Tokyo as well.

Naruto Must Rival One Piece At The Top

Naruto Rival One Piece remake

Naruto has always had a friendly rivalry with One Piece, and given that the latter is getting a new remake by Wit Studio, it is time that Naruto gets something similar as well. At this point, a Naruto remake is absolutely necessary, especially because good shonen stories are hard to come by. What's even more difficult these days is to see a long-running consistent shonen series, and Naruto could excel in that department.

If adapted with a seasonal approach, the story of Naruto could easily take more than ten years to properly bring to life, which would give a lot of exciting content to the fans, split over multiple years. Above all, it would be a brilliant retelling of this phenomenal story in a modern fashion.

All episodes of Naruto are available to stream on Crunchyroll.
