All Might snagged the title of strongest hero in My Hero Academia for a very long time. Nearly every hero in the series looked up to him, including Izuku Midoriya, who had nothing but admiration and respect for the muscular man. With the One For All Quirk, All Might protected humanity from the most powerful villains, especially All For One.
While All Might is widely regarded as the undisputed strongest Pro Hero of all time in My Hero Academia, the hero society has produced many other powerhouses worthy of recognition. These heroes are not only exceptionally strong but also serve as beacons of hope in humanity's darkest moments, making them the closest to All Might.
My Hero Academia: 13 Characters With The Saddest Backstories
When it comes to sad and tragic backstories in My Hero Academia, these characters in the anime series have had it the worst.
8 Captain Celebrity Is Often Compared to All Might
Quirk: Flight
It’s easy to see the similarities between Captain Celebrity and All Might. Both of them have muscular bodies, thrive in the spotlight, and are well-loved by the masses, despite their occasional controversies. Some fans even call Captain Celebrity the All Might of America, thanks to his massive public appeal and role as a national symbol.
If Captain Celebrity were to fight All Might, the battle would generally lean in All Might’s favor. Even so, Captain Celebrity remains an experienced hero who may be able to provide All Might with a solid match, at least in terms of endurance and mobility.
7 Hawks Proved His Worth Against All Might’s Archenemy
Quirk: Fierce Wings
While Hawks lacks the same brute strength as All Might, his speed and versatility still give him an edge on the battlefield. He is one of the most unpredictable Pro Heroes in the series, strong enough to give All For One a worthy battle, despite failing to secure a decisive victory.
Hawks, otherwise known as Keigo Takami, uses his Quirk, Fierce Wings, to unleash razor-sharp feathers that he can control individually to either overwhelm his opponents or help his allies escape from the battlefield. Obviously, Hawks can also fly, allowing him to perform reconnaissance and fight from a distance.

6 Fumikage Tokoyami Has Limitless Potential
Quirk: Dark Shadow
Fumikage Tokoyami’s Quirk, Dark Shadow, is an incredibly powerful ability that even All For One sought to obtain for himself in the Final War Arc. The quirk has limitless potential, as the more darkness that surrounds Dark Shadow, the more powerful it becomes.
Even All For One was taken aback by Tokoyami’s mastery of Dark Shadow in its Total Release form, as it nearly overwhelmed him. Though Tokoyami and Dark Shadow were ultimately defeated, it can’t be denied that he remains one of the strongest and most memorable characters in the final war.
5 Cathleen Bate Fought Villains Like a True Symbol of Peace
Quirk: New Order
Hailing from America, Cathleen Bate, also known as Star and Stripe, was yet another powerful Pro Hero with a broken quirk called New Order. Her quirk granted her the ability to impose rules on anything that she touched, as long as she called its name. Once the first step was completed, all Cathleen had to do was rewrite the reality of the target to overwhelm them.
In a nutshell, Cathleen Bate was All Might’s counterpart in America. She held on to the No. 1 ranking for as long as she could before she traveled to Japan and faced death at the hands of Tomura Shigaraki. Though she lost her life in the process, Cathleen's contributions were crucial in defeating Tomura in the end.
4 Endeavor Is All Might’s Fiercest Rival
Quirk: Hellflame
All Might and Endeavor have a long history together. While All Might never wavered as the No. 1 Pro Hero for most of My Hero Academia, Endeavor stayed right behind as the No. 2 Pro Hero, full of bitterness and relentless ambition. For most of Endeavor’s life, he aimed to surpass All Might and claim the No. 1 hero title, a pursuit that deeply affected his family as well.
Regardless, Endeavor wouldn’t be the No. 2 hero without the strength to back up his rank. His Hellflame Quirk is among the most powerful fire-type quirks in the series, capable of incinerating entire structures with ease. When All Might could no longer stand against All For One, it was Endeavor who stepped in and fought to the best of his ability, despite knowing the vast power gap between them.
3 Shoto Todoroki Represents the Future Beyond All Might
Quirk: Half-Cold Half-Hot
This list wouldn’t be complete without mentioning Shoto Todoroki and his Half-Cold Half-Hot quirk. Much like Bakugo, Shoto is one of the most talented students at U.A. High School, capable of holding his own against the likes of Dabi in the series.
Though Shoto is still far from matching All Might’s legacy in the hero society, he is on his way to becoming one of the most influential heroes of his generation. Standing at No. 2, Shoto has already established himself as one of the strongest and most reliable Pro Heroes in Japan by the end of the series.
2 Katsuki Bakugo Wants to Surpass All Might
Quirk: Explosion
Just like Izuku, Bakugo has idolized All Might since he was young. He even kept a rare All Might trading card in the hopes of getting his idol’s signature someday. However, Bakugo’s pride and ego often get in the way, preventing him from approaching All Might as one of his avid fans.
With that out of the way, Bakugo is prominent for being one of the most talented students in My Hero Academia. From beginning to end, he was consistent in showing how powerful his Explosion quirk was, leaving nothing but destruction in its wake. Though Bakugo came close to dying, he awakened a far stronger version of his Quirk, which allowed him to reduce All For One to nothing and even helped Deku ultimately finish Shigaraki. Now, all Bakugo wants is to surpass All Might while maintaining his post at the top of the Pro Hero rankings.
1 Izuku Midoriya Is All Might’s Successor
Quirk: One For All
All Might’s number one fan, Izuku Midoriya, had a zero-to-hero journey in My Hero Academia. Starting as a Quirkless individual, Izuku eventually succeeded All Might as the next One For All user, burdened with the responsibility to protect the world from All For One, Tomura Shigaraki, and the League of Villains.
While Izuku initially had trouble controlling the OFA’s power, he later learned to use the full extent of his inherited quirk by the end of the series. Against Tomura Shigaraki, Izuku simultaneously used the quirks of the previous OFA users, showing just how far he had mastered his compounding quirk.
