A new mod will bring a fresh visual twist, as a color mode will soon be arriving in MOUSE: P.I. For Hire, offering players a more vibrant way to explore the game. Ever since an early gameplay trailer was shown in 2023, MOUSE: P.I. For Hire instantly caught the attention of many in the gaming community for its unique visual design. Originally scheduled for a 2025 release, the game's launch had to be delayed to 2026 as Fumi Games, the developer of MOUSE: P.I. For Hire, cited polishing and development as the main reasons.
Among the many titles revealed at Summer Game Fest 2025 was MOUSE: P.I. For Hire, which gathered even more attention for its aesthetic inspired by the animation style seen in 1930s-era Mickey Mouse cartoons. Before settling on its current title, the project was initially introduced simply as Mouse, eventually being rebranded and properly unveiled with its first gameplay showcase in August 2024.
MOUSE: P.I. For Hire Gets a Full Color Mod Soon
A Twitter user going by the name mousereloaded posted a few screenshots of a mod for MOUSE: P.I. For Hire that adds a color mode to the game. This modification focuses on replacing the black and white palette with a colorful one, giving a new look and feel to the game. By glancing at the screenshots, it's evident that the mod is still in development, as one comment under the post pointed out that, for some reason, the HUD is still black and white.
In the description of the Twitter post, mousereloaded also mentioned that while playing through MOUSE: P.I. For Hire, players will notice some unfinished areas and some locations that are still under progress. In the comments, they also went on to inform that the HUD and guns will remain black and white for now, but will get updated with color as development progresses further.
The post has garnered some attention on Twitter and a few comments, where mousereloaded has shared some behind-the-scenes issues they are facing regarding the mod. While replying to other users, they have mentioned that due to MOUSE: P.I. For Hire using a very old version of Unity, they are struggling to make things work. They also announced that there will be a mode sometime in the future, which retains the noir aesthetic of the game while keeping the blood in red color.

All in all, the black and white old-style animation aesthetic works well, considering the positive reviews MOUSE: P.I. For Hire has received since its release. Even though the majority of fans are happy with the current color palette of the game, it would be interesting to see what this upcoming mod changes in the game's overall design.
