How to Complete Jack Squat in Mouse: P.I. for Hire

Key Objectives

  • Escape the Office Ruins.
  • Defeat the Hitman.

Best Route to Get All Collectibles in Jack Squat

To collect every item in a single run, make sure to fully clear each area before progressing forward. Several sections in Jack Squat lock behind you once you advance, especially when entering the cellar or dropping from ledges.

In particular:

  • Grab both Schematics in the opening areas before entering the Little & Big cellar.
  • Collect the Schematic by the typewriter before dropping from the ledge and triggering the first wave.
  • Do not drop past the typewriter after the first wave until you’ve picked up both collectibles in the area.

Following this order will prevent you from missing any items or needing to reload an earlier save.

Jack Squat Walkthrough (All Office Ruins Collectibles)

It’s easy to miss collectibles if you follow the objective markers too quickly. Use the steps below to complete Jack Squat without missing any items. For help with other missions, see our 100% Mouse P.I. for Hire walkthrough hub.

Get Some Rest

Before anything, make a save, as you won't be able to return to the P.I. Office area once you've started Jack Squat. Then head into the bedroom in Jack's office and interact with the bed.

Find Out What's Going On & Get Your Stash From Little & Big

Head through the front door to run into John. Go down the stairs and through the door to an enemy-filled area. This is a great place to stock up on some ammo, armor, and health, and you should make sure to do so before you Double Jump out of the arena and continue to the next typewriter.

Now crouch to get under the wooden planks that block the door and fall through the floor. You'll see a safe before you drop, but it just holds some cash, so don't worry about opening it unless you really need the money.

Schematic (Tammy’s Bearings)

Once you fall, grab the Hot Pepper, as the temporary buff will make it much easier to dispatch the enemies you encounter. Then go to the southwest corner of the area to find a Schematic pinned to Tammy's Bearings. Grab this immediately after dropping, as you won’t be able to return to this area once you enter the Little & Big cellar.

Schematic (Little & Big Front Room)

Now follow your Detective's Brush to the Little & Big and defeat the enemies inside. Then go to the small room in the northwest corner for another Schematic. As with the previous Schematic, this becomes inaccessible once you enter the bar’s cellar, so make sure to grab it before progressing.

If you've grabbed both Schematics, you're now ready to go into the basement, and you can use a typewriter to make a quick save.

Escape Through John's Emergency Warp Pipe & Run for Your Life

Flip the switch on the wall to the left of the typewriter to reveal a Warp Pipe. Before you enter, grab the armor from the locker next to the pipe, as it may come in handy in the next sections.

Once you're through the Warp Pipe, you can find a safe to your right. It just holds some cash, though, so opening it is not critical.

Schematic (Cellar Typewriter Room)

Now follow your Detective’s Brush through an enemy-filled cellar to reach a room with a typewriter. There is a Schematic pinned to the wall past the typewriter. Grab this before dropping off the ledge, as doing so will trigger an escape sequence and prevent you from returning.

Drop from the ledge and outrun the giant wave with well-timed crouches, Grapple Tails, and Double Jumps. In the room past the wave, use the Wall Jump platform on the wall and the trampoline to get on the scaffolding, and follow the path to the next typewriter. Do not drop off the ledge next to the typewriter yet, as there are two collectibles you must grab first.

Comic Book (Near Typewriter Pallet)

The first is a Comic Book, which is on the pallet just before the typewriter. This is easy to miss if you head straight past the typewriter, as it’s partially hidden by bricks.

Schematic (Scaffolding Safe Across Gap)

The second is a Schematic, which is on the scaffolding across from the ledge. Double Jump and use Tail-a-Choppa to reach the scaffolding. Take extra care when making this jump, as missing it will require reloading a previous save to try again.

With the Schematic and Comic Book collected, head to the ground and outrun the wave once again. Don't worry about dealing with the enemies along this path, just go as quickly as possible and use Tail-a-Choppa to get a boost from the fans at the end. Then make a save at the typewriter and drop into the next room to start a fight with the Hitman.

How to Beat The Hitman

This fight plays out much like the boss fight at the end of the Secret Show mission, with the Hitman quickly teleporting between locations. Try to stay near the staircase on the east side of the room, as it makes it easier to track the Hitman's teleport pattern.

When he appears, shoot him with the Devarnisher. That weapon is a great option against fast-moving enemies that are hard to consistently track, as it deals damage over time, and a handful of hits with the Devarnisher will be enough to bring the Hitman down.

Reach Wanda

With the Hitman defeated, climb the ladder on the west side of the arena and interact with Jack's car to complete Jack Squat. You're headed to Bandel's Mansion next. Make sure to use our The House of the Empty Mouse collectibles walkthrough so you don't miss anything while you're there.

Missable Collectibles & Common Mistakes

The most commonly missed collectibles in Jack Squat occur at key transition points where the game prevents you from returning:

  1. Entering the Little & Big cellar locks you out of the opening area Schematics.
  2. Dropping from the ledge after the second cellar typewriter triggers the escape sequence and blocks access to that room.
  3. Advancing past the typewriter after the second wave can cause you to miss both collectibles in the area.
