[Update 6/1: As of 5:00 AM PST, Minecraft appears to be back up and running normally, according to Downdetector and Minecraft Status. The original story follows.]

Minecraft players are currently reporting that they are having issues with the game, with word of an outage beginning in the early hours of June 1. More than a decade after its original release, Mojang's blocky sandbox title remains massively popular around the world. Minecraft is currently the best-selling video game of all time, and the developer has continued to provide support with regular content updates for players on PC, console, and mobile devices.

While much of Minecraft can be enjoyed solo, many of its more popular features rely on online connectivity. Players regularly use Realms, Mojang's official server hosting service, as well as community-run servers and cross-platform multiplayer to share their creations and experience content together. As a result, issues affecting Minecraft's online infrastructure can impact an extremely large number of players. Luckily, the game doesn't frequently experience outages, with the last occurring at the end of October 2025, when a widespread Microsoft Azure outage prevented many players from logging into the game and accessing online features.

Minecraft Status

Reports began appearing that Minecraft servers were experiencing issues at around 12:30 AM PST, with the website Downdetector showing increasing numbers of users unable to access the game. Affected users have been encountering error messages when attempting to launch Minecraft. One message states, "Oh no! Something went wrong, and we couldn't connect to the Minecraft services." Another indicates that the game was unable to verify ownership information. The issue appears to be related to the game's authentication services, potentially preventing players from logging in or accessing online features such as Realms or multiplayer servers. Users launching Minecraft through third-party applications like Prism Launcher and CurseForge are also reporting similar problems.

At the time of writing, Mojang has not yet issued a message about the outage, and the exact cause of the disruption remains unclear. However, the developer typically addresses issues very quickly if the situation is within its realm of control.
