The Traxus Return on Investment 4 contract will have Runners scavenging the Perimeter map for multiple pieces of salvage and delivering them to a DCON in a single run. While these particular types of salvage are less than common to find, there are some reliable areas to obtain them if you know where you're going. This Marathon guide will lead you toward the best areas to find Altered Wire and Storage Drives to complete the Return on Investment 4 contract.

The Traxus Faction demands that Runners locate and extract with Rod Salvage a specific rarity. Here's where to find it to complete this contract.

How to Complete Return on Investment 4 in Marathon

The Return on Investment 4 contract, while technically multi-zone, is best completed on Perimeter. Because of the map's abundance of both Wire and Drive salvage, you'll have a much easier time finding them all in a single run than you would on other maps. The contract consist of two steps:

In a single run:

  1. Deliver Altered Wire or an Anomalous Wire to DCON (0/3)
  2. Deliver Storage Drives or an Amygdala Drive to DCON (0/3)

Altered Wire and Storage Drives are considered Enhanced Salvage and are worth one point of progress each. However, Anomalous Wire and Amygdala Drives are Rare Salvage, and are worth four points each. For each step, you'll either need to find three Enhanced Salvages or one Rare Salvage.

Find the Wire Salvage

To find Altered Wire, head to Station on Perimeter and search around each room and container. You will commonly find Altered Wire sitting atop counters and tables, but you will most commonly find it inside Munitions Crates. Collect at least three Altered Wires and prepare to head south.

Find the Drive Salvage

To find Storage Drives, head to either South Relay or North Relay on Perimeter and search inside the various buildings. Like Altered Wire, you'll typically spot Storage Drives out in the open on tables and counters, but you will most commonly find them inside Core Storage containers. Once you find at least three Storage Drives or one Amygdala Drive, head to the nearest DCON machine as indicated on your map.

If you're at South Relay, there is typically a DCON just south of the facility.

Deliver the Salvage to DCON

DCON stations are typically on or around buildings that are guarded by claymore mines. Before approaching too closely, carefully destroy any claymores around ladders and walkways.

Once you've found a DCON machine, simply interact with it to bring up your inventory screen, and place the appropriate Salvage into the machine. After a few seconds, your Salvage will be zapped to space, and your contract will be complete. You don't have to worry about exfilling to be successful, so you're free to roam around and look for more loot if you still have any space left.
