A LEGO fan skillfully created a Lord of the Rings build depicting the battle atop the peaks of Amon-Hen, which occurs toward the end of the first movie in Peter Jackson's trilogy, using over 4,000 pieces. Since the first LEGO Lord of the Rings set was released, Tolkien's world has been getting more and more attention within the hobby. Many fans use existing Lord of the Rings sets to make their own builds, or start from scratch to create their projects (called MOC, My Own Creation).

It's not uncommon to turn existing sets into something entirely different for LEGO builders, and The Lord of the Rings is a prime candidate for creative builds because Middle-earth is massive, and the stories it contains are many. Only a handful of locations or moments from the movie series have been released in LEGO form so far, and this scarcity is the perfect catalyst for more builds. For example, a fan created a LEGO Osgiliath from the Rivendell set, using only 30% of the pieces. As it stands, there have been only 19 LotR sets so far, excluding polybags, and locations like Osgiliath and Amon-Hen remain unexplored.

Custom LEGO Lord of the Rings Amon-Hen Battle MOC Build

A Reddit user by the name of Grinch_AFOLsWelcome shared a post on the platform showcasing their own creation (MOC) of the battle at the peak of Amon-Hen. This build consists of over 4,000 pieces and uses minifigures of the various Uruk-hai Orcs, a scared Frodo, and then Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli fighting Sauron's forces. Some fans voiced how Grinch_AFOLsWelcome's build should be made official, though the piece count would likely make it a very expensive LEGO Lord of the Rings set.

Grinch_AFOLsWelcome stated that they are working on Rebrickable instructions, too, so fans may be able to recreate the battle of Amon-Hen soon. It's worth noting that LEGO Lord of the Rings minifigures are not sold separately, so those who want to recreate this build with official minifigs will need to purchase existing LEGO LotR sets that feature them. The other pieces will most likely all be easily available on BrickLink.com, which also sells LotR minifigures, though they are not exactly cheap.

The build Grinch_AFOLsWelcome shared gained a lot of traction within the LEGO subreddit, and it's yet another fan-made LotR build fans can try to replicate. Another fan turned LEGO's Toothless set into The Lord of the Rings' Barad-dur with no extra pieces, and while the official set is incredible, it's also very expensive. The Toothless set is only $69.99, whereas the official Barad-dur set is $459.99 on the official website.

This is not the only expensive set for Tolkien's universe, as the LEGO Lord of the Rings Minas Tirith set costs $649.99 for over 8,000 pieces. A set like Grinch_AFOLsWelcome's build, if made official, could cost around $350–400, whereas it may be much cheaper with Rebrickable instructions and individual pieces purchased from BrickLink or similar sites. Fans will have to wait for the Rebrickable instructions for now, but Grinch_AFOLsWelcome's post does include detailed pictures. Boromir is missing from the build, but it makes sense lore-wise because he was looking for Frodo before the Orcs came, and then valiantly defended Merrin and Pippin against the Uruk-hai.
