Yuji Itadori's Full Power Officially Unveiled In Final Jujutsu Kaisen Release

Jujutsu Kaisen is a legendary series by Gege Akutami that met its end in 2024 after the conclusion of the Shinjuku Showdown arc. During its six-year-long run, we saw many characters grow and develop in terms of strength, and that also includes the protagonist of the series, Yuji Itadori. Yuji developed tremendously in the final arc of JJK, where he took on Sukuna and finally awakened to his true power. With his Awakening, he unlocked the cursed technique called Shrine, albeit at a basic level.

In Jujutsu Kaisen: Modulo, the sequel by Gege Akutami and Yuji Iwasaki, Yuji Itadori has become the strongest sorcerer, ascending to Special Grade. Naturally, there exists a lot of debate on whether adult Yuji Itadori is stronger than Sukuna or not. On July 31, 2026, this debate was officially settled through confirmation via official Jujutsu Kaisen media, which confirmed once and for all that Yuji surpassed both Gojo and Sukuna by adulthood. As things stand, Yuji is the strongest sorcerer to ever live, and with 300 more years at hand, the gulf between him and Sukuna grows bigger.

Yuji Itadori was the original protagonist of Jujutsu Kaisen, by Gege Akutami, which ran between 2018 and 2024 in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump. Until the very last arc of the story, Yuji was often overshadowed by side characters, notably the likes of Gojo Satoru, Yuta Okkotsu, and Ryomen Sukuna. However, his true might would come to light after Gojo's death and the beginning of the final confrontation against Sukuna in the Shinjuku Showdown arc.

In this arc, every capable sorcerer who was still standing fought to their utmost best in hopes of defeating the King of Curses. To the surprise of many, the biggest contributor to Sukuna's fall ended up being Yuji himself, the former vessel of Sukuna. That is because during this confrontation, Yuji went on to unlock the full power of the Shrine cursed technique, along with other powerful abilities, such as Blood Manipulation and Simple Domains. Shrine was Sukuna's own cursed technique, but Yuji was able to unlock it and use it in its own special way.

After Sukuna's defeat, Jujutsu Kaisen experienced a 68-year timeskip, which brought us forward to Jujutsu Kaisen: Modulo timeline, delivering a new cast of characters and, most importantly, showing Yuji Itadori as an adult. Yuji made his first proper appearance in JJK Modulo Chapter 19, which released on January 26, 2026, in Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #9. Immediately upon reappearing, it became apparent that this version of Yuji is on a whole other level compared to when we last saw him. Yuji went on to showcase full mastery over quite a few abilities, including Shrine.

In JJK Modulo Chapter 20, released officially on February 2, 2026, in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #10, Yuji Itadori, alongside Tsurugi and Rika, launched powerful attacks in Tokyo. Yuji unleashed a strong Dismantle that caused a massive explosion, which seemed to be a few kilometers wide in impact, and took out a multitude of cursed spirits immediately. This was already quite an impressive feat and better than anything Sukuna showcased during Shinjuku Showdown. However, on July 29, 2026, it was officially revealed by the Jujutsu Kaisen account on X (@jujutsu_PR) that this Dismantle attack by Yuji is only his standard attack, meaning that with all the damage he caused, he was not even trying to his fullest. This is a major upscale for the strength level of Yuji Itadori and goes to show that his full power, which we were not able to witness in Jujutsu Kaisen: Modulo, is even greater.

Yuji Itadori first unlocked the Shrine in Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 257, in Shueisha's WSJ Issue #21 of April 22, 2024. After he landed a Black Flash on Sukuna, Yuji was able to unlock Sukuna’s own cursed technique due to his compatibility with the King of Curses by being his former vessel and being bathed in his cursed energy. The Shrine technique grants Yuji a wide array of abilities. It must be said, even though he shares this Cursed technique with Sukuna, it wasn't the exact same at first. While Sukuna's slashes were like a knife and cleaver, Yuji’s cuts were more scissors at first. By adulthood, however, Yuji has mastered Sukuna's version of the Shrine as well.

First and foremost, the Shrine allows Yuji to dish out powerful slashes, as seen in Modulo. While in the original series he had to touch his target to slash them, now, he can launch it from kilometers away with ease, showing full mastery. Against Mahito, we saw his Dismantle technique used once more, where he was able to rip into shreds the former’s Domain Expansion without even breaking a sweat, using hand signs or even moving a muscle. Yuji's Shrine attacks also carry Soul Damage, making them extremely deadly and able to take down almost any enemy, including Sukuna. Coupled with his Domain Expansion, which grants his Shrine a sure hit, Yuji is unstoppable when fighting at full power. Like Sukuna, Yuji also has Cleave, which would allow him to cut enemies upon contact and adjust the strength based on their durability and the amount of cursed energy output. He should also have access to Furnace, although the need to use that never arose.

What we have seen from Yuji Itadori during Jujutsu Kaisen: Modulo only scratches the surface of what our former protagonist is truly capable of. Throughout the run of Modulo, Yuji refused to go all out and didn't fight against Dabura, as he wanted to push the new generation forward and wanted them to deal with their problems by themselves. In that sense, Modulo only gave us a glimpse of his true power. His standard Dismantle is already stronger than Sukuna's strongest attacks, meaning that, at full power, Yuji should easily be strong enough to wipe out a whole city. While Sukuna's Malevolent Shrine range was 200 meters, Yuji's range could be kilometers wide.

Yuji has other powerful abilities as well. For one, Yuji is the only character who has mastered the Black Flash and is able to land them at will. This was showcased in Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Chapter 20, when he beat Ouki. Yuji has also inherited Blood Manipulation from consuming the Death Paintings 4-9 in the original series. Back then, his mastery of Blood Manipulation was quite rudimentary, but he has now become the greatest Blood Manipulation user, as seen when he used Piercing Blood to easily subdue a whole building full of sorcerers in Modulo Chapter 19. It has become apparent that Yuji is the new God of Jujutsu in the story. He seems to have far surpassed his predecessors, including Gojo Satoru and Ryomen Sukuna, and become the new strongest of the story.
