No matter how much fans argue over it, there can be no question that Ryomen Sukuna was the greatest and most powerful sorcerer in history at the end of the original Jujutsu Kaisen story. Although the question of who is stronger between him and Gojo is the most hotly contested debate within the community, the story itself has given fans the answer.

Despite his seemingly unstoppable nature, there are a few JJK characters who could have killed the King of Curses at various points in the Jujutsu Kaisen story. Sukuna may be the most powerful socerer in Jujutsu Kaisen, but he's not invincible.

None can even hold a candle to the power of each era's strongest sorcerer in Jujutsu Kaisen – especially when they use their strongest abilities.

Gojo Satoru Was The Only Character On Sukuna's Level

Win Condition: Anything

The most obvious answer to who could have defeated Sukuna is none other than the only man who was ever able to truly match him. Gojo was known as the strongest sorcerer of the modern age. To anyone paying attention to the story, it was clear that his ultimate fight against Sukuna was destined from the very start, as these two were equals in just about every way.

In terms of how Gojo could have defeated Sukuna, there doesn't even need to be a specific condition for it, since Sukuna was already giving everything he had to fight the Limitless sorcerer. Due to their similarity in strength, the fight could honestly have gone any way with either of them having an equal chance at victory. However, Sukuna's ultimate gamble with the World Cutting Slash paid off since Gojo was entirely unprepared for it, even failing to see the sparks of Cursed Energy beforehand.

Yuta Okkotsu Could Have Defeated Sukuna

Win Condition: Longer Experience In Gojo's Body

As a character with some of the highest reserves of Cursed Energy in history, Yuta was one of the heavy hitters on the side of Jujutsu High against Sukuna. However, his power was incredibly low compared to Sukuna's own, which is why he couldn't stand with him in a fair fight.

Later on, Yuta rejoined the battle within Gojo's body. While he used it well, he ultimately burned out due to the major differences between his and Gojo's experience. If he had far more time to get used to the body and the Six Eyes, then his inclusion in the fight using Gojo's vessel would have been far more useful, and he may not have burned out as quickly either.

Kashimo's Strength Was Very Formidable

Win Condition: Sure-Hit Lightning On Sukuna's Weakened Vessel

Kashimo actually fought against Sukuna in the Shinjuku Showdown arc but, for many, had a disappointing showing. Although he was quite strong with his Mythical Beast Amber form, all it managed to do was weaken an already severely damaged Sukuna and force him to unlock his true form, with which he made short work of the God of Lightning.

That said, Kashimo could have taken out the King of Curses as soon as he made his entrance onto the battlefield. By capitalizing on Sukuna's weakened state and lack of foreknowledge about his abilities, Kashimo could have set down his staff to immediately unleash his lightning-fast sure-hit attack from behind Sukuna to kill him. Knowing Kashimo's personality and role in the story, however, he would never do anything like that.

Yuki Tsukumo Was The Hardest Hitter In The Series

Win Condition: Releasing A Full Power Black Hole

Yuki from JJK

As another one of the 4 officially-recognized Special Grade sorcerers, Yuki Tsukumo was one of the series' most powerful characters. In fact, when it comes to hand-to-hand combat, she was an even harder hitter than Sukuna and Gojo, as her Cursed Technique allowed her to imbue her strikes with virtual mass, making even her regular attacks hit like a truck.

While Sukuna out scales her in just about every other metric, Yuki has access to the most powerful offensive attack in the entire series, which is known as the Black Hole. Essentially, she can add infinite mass to herself or her Shikigami in order to create a Black Hole with crushing gravitational force. This Black Hole is so dense that not even light can escape from it, so Sukuna would instantly be crushed, though doing so would kill Yuki as well.

The only reason Kenjaku survived was through the Anti-Gravity Cursed Technique, which is something Sukuna simply doesn't have.

Megumi Had The Greatest Potential Out Of Anyone

Win Condition: Full Control Over Mahoraga

Throughout the entire Jujutsu Kaisen franchise, there are only 4 'Calamity Grade' sorcerers who all exist on a level that no other character can reach; Sukuna, Gojo, Modulo Yuji, and Dabura. However, the only being strong enough to contend with them is the crown jewel of the Ten Shadows technique, Mahoraga, which is the Cursed Technique of Megumi in the original series.

Of course, Megumi gets clowned on endlessly for being the 'Potential Man' who never really did anything with his insane gifts. However, if he had ever managed to master the Ten Shadows technique by taming Mahoraga, he could definitely count himself as one of the only ones capable of defeating Sukuna, especially when used alongside the remaining shadows.

Hana Kurusu Had One Of The Strongest Techniques in the Series

Win Condition: Complete Jacob's Ladder

After Gojo and Yuji, Hana is the character who came closest to killing Sukuna once and for all during the Culling Game arc. This is due to her incredibly broken Cursed Technique, Jacob's Ladder, which allows her to completely terminate a Cursed Technique, Cursed Object, or Cursed Spirits from existence, regardless of their strength level or nature.

This makes Hana one of the most valuable sorcerers in the series, and her incredible technique was on display in the Culling Game arc when she used it on Sukuna and almost ended the series early. However, she fell victim to a ruse, so she wasn't able to use the technique on the King of Curses completely. If she hadn't fallen for Sukuna's trick, he would have died then and there.

Dabura Karaba Is The Sukuna Of The Modulo Era

Win Condition: The Lightspeed Kick

As another of the 4 Calamity Grade sorcerers and one of the strongest characters in the entire franchise, Dabura's strength is legendary and his speed is unparalleled. Due to his Cursed Technique allowing him to move close to the speed of light, Dabura has access to one of the most devastating attacks in the entire series.

If he and Sukuna ever fought, it would be an incredibly interesting match-up to see. Although the King of Curses has better knowledge of jujutsu, better refinement, greater experience, and unfair techniques, Dabura's Lightspeed Kick is simply too fast for the villain to react to. If Sukuna doesn't see the attack coming, Dabura would just turn the King of Curses into a paste quicker than he could react.

Jujutsu Kaisen can be streamed on Crunchyroll.
