Hunter x Hunter is a legendary shonen series by the famed Weekly Shonen Jump creator, Yoshihiro Togashi. Togashi’s legacy precedes him, as it goes beyond just Hunter x Hunter with other monumental hits like Yu Yu Hakusho. Sadly, even with Togashi’s fantastic storywriting, his work has taken a big hit since 2006 due to worsening health issues leading to constant hiatuses.
While Hunter x Hunter is usually on a hiatus with no new content, it has officially been confirmed that the series is returning with a new volume release after years. Hunter x Hunter Volume 39 is finally scheduled to be released on July 3, 2026, and with a fresh batch of chapters to read, more information can be expected from this amazing release in 2026.
Hunter x Hunter Volume 39 Is Set To Mark The Comeback Of The Franchise On July 3, 2026
Yoshihiro Togashi’s Hunter x Hunter has been serialized in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump since March 3, 1998. While the series is ongoing even now, almost 30 years later, it’s not consistent and has been on break longer than in the magazine. Nevertheless, every once in a while, Hunter x Hunter makes some progress with short comebacks. Now, HxH is officially returning with its newest release in 2 years. Previously, Volume 38 of the series dropped in Japan on September 4, 2024. Now, Hunter x Hunter Volume 39 is finally hitting the shelves in Japan, and is officially set to be released in its home country next month, on July 3, 2026. This is a huge revival for the franchise, and this volume will contain exciting content from the Succession Contest Arc.
Unfortunately, while the volume is coming to Japan, the English version could take quite some time to be released. For context, while HxH Volume 38 was released in late 2024 in Japan, it took the English version almost two years to be released, hitting the market only recently in January 2026. With that in mind, fans shouldn’t expect the next English volume to be published before late 2027 or early 2028.

New Hunter x Hunter Volume To Come With Brand New Cover Art From Togashi
One of the most exciting parts of a new Volume release is the new cover that comes with it. Given that most fans of the series have already read the contents of the chapters through platforms like MangaPlus, the cover art sparks a unique excitement within them. At the moment, the new cover hasn’t yet been teased. Usually, the new cover is teased a few weeks before the volume hits the shelves. Previously, for HxH Volume 38, Togashi chose to create a simple Gon cover with a white background. This was definitely an odd choice, as Gon hasn’t even been seen in the manga for over a decade, with his last appearance being in HxH chapter 345 which was released all the way back on June 30th, 2014 in Weekly Shonen Jump Issue # 31.
This time around, Togashi could choose to illustrate Gon again, or another one of his main characters, like Killua. Alternatively, a more story-relevant character could be drawn, like Morena, Chrollo, or Kurapika. It could also feature a group of individuals, but at the moment, that's all speculation.

Hunter X Hunter Manga Is Set To Resume Soon With New Chapter Batch
All of the fans of Yoshihiro Togashi’s works have been craving new Hunter x Hunter content for 2 years now. The last chapter of the series, Chapter 410, was released two years ago on December 9, 2024. We've had to endure a tough wait, but Togashi has been working hard on his manga, as confirmed by his own tweets on his X page. Togashi has confirmed that he has already finished the next 10 chapters, meaning chapters 411 to 420 are on the horizon. Togashi has even made progress beyond these chapters, and he plans on delivering content at least until chapter 430.
This means HxH’s official return is imminent in 2026. At the moment, an official return date has yet to be confirmed by Weekly Shonen Jump. We will all have to be patient and see what the magazine decides when it comes to the return of HxH to Jump in the next few months. It could be that Shueisha wishes to wait until the next volume release to start the weekly serialization of the next 10 chapters, as that would drastically boost sales with new content. In that sense, fans should keep an eye on July for a possible HxH return. Either way, the franchise is definitely making a comeback in 2026, and we can't wait to dive into it once again.
