A priority for exploration in Solarpunk should be to obtain a map. If you want to keep track of where you've explored and ensure you don't get lost in the world, creating a map should be something you're focusing on, which is why we'll show you how to do it.
If you want the map in Solarpunk, you'll first need the Craft Table and Research Table, and we'll walk you through the process of obtaining these stations so you can get your first map, so you can move onto exploring other islands!
Solarpunk Release Date & Time
Get ready for the cozy building survival game, Solarpunk, coming soon to multiple platforms.
How to Get the Craft Table in Solarpunk
To make a Craft Table, you need 6 wood, which you can get by chopping down trees with your axe (x2 Stones and x2 Sticks). Once you have the required materials, press the F key to open the Quick Craft Menu, where you can then select the Craft Table.
With the Craft Table selected, place it down anywhere on the ground, and then you can start to use it. For the map, you're going to need to use the Craft Table to create the Research Table.
How to Get the Tier 2 Research Table in Solarpunk
Press E on the Craft Table to reveal a menu of craftables, where in the Utilities Tab, you can craft the Research Table for x8 Wood and x1 Cloth (If you need Cloth, you can make it with x1 Cotton through the Resources Tab!)
With the resources acquired, craft the Research Table and place it anywhere. Now, you will need to upgrade to Tier 2 Research to get the map. To unlock Tier 2, you'll have to complete all the Tier 1 research projects first.
How to Craft the Map in Solarpunk
With the Tier 2 Research Table, you can unlock the Map via research with x2 Cloth. Once researched, the map will automatically become available, and you can access the map at any time by pressing the M key.
How to Use the Map in Solarpunk
When you open the map, you'll see an ocean of blue instead of green, but don't worry! You can left-click and drag the map around to see where more floating islands are located. The map is not just the small box area that is displayed on the screen initially.
You can use your mouse wheel to scroll down; it will show you a zoomed-out version of the map, and if you scroll up, it will take you closer so you can see some details of the island area you're on.
Right now, the maps don't show any resources or where you've built anything. Maps are more for showing the paths on the various islands, where they are in the sky, and their different levels, as well as finding your lost loot in case you pass out from hunger or thirst.
