If you're looking to complete your Pokedex in Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen then you're going to need to catch 'em all. One of the original 151 Pokemon you'll need to track down is Machoke, the fighting-type Pokemon that evolves from Machop and evolves into Machamp. In this guide, I'll explain where to find Machop, how to evolve Machoke, and where it can be caught in the wild in Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen.

Here is how to find Magikarp and evolve it into Gyarados in Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen.
Where to Find Machop and Machoke Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen
Both Machop and Machoke can be found in the wild, and in some cases in the very same areas. That being said, you're likely going to come across Machop earlier on in your adventure.
Machop can be found in the following locations:
- Mt. Ember
- Mt. Ember Cave
- Mt. Ember Floor 1
- Rock Tunnel Floor 1 and Basement 1
- Victory Road Floors 1, 2, and 3
Machoke can be found in the following locations:
- Mt. Ember Cave
- Mt. Ember Floor 1
- Victory Road Floors 1, 2, and 3
- Cerulean Cave Floors 1, 2, and Basement 1
You're likely going to come across Rock Tunnel first on your adventure, so it might be worth getting a Machop here and leveling it up into a Machoke. That way, you'll be able to help refine its stats and moveset as you go.
How to Evolve Machop into Machoke and Machamp in Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen
To evolve Machop, you need to train it up to level 28. If it reaches level 28 from battling, at the end of that battle the evolution animation should begin. However, if you leave it at the Daycare Center, you'll need to battle with it once after its reached level 28 to trigger the evolution process.
Evolving Machoke into a Machamp requires you to trade it. This can be done by heading to the upper floor of a Pokemon Center and interacting with the Direct Corner. This will then allow you to select to trade with a friend over local wireless connectivity.
The Nintendo Switch versions of Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen do not have online trading and battling. As such, you'll need a friend in the same room as you to be able to trade.
Once the trade is done, your Machoke will immediately begin evolving in your friend's game. After the evolution has complete, have them trade your Machamp back to you. I'd also recommend having them trade you another Pokemon that needs to be traded to evolve, such as a Haunter, Graveler, or Poliwhirl. That way, you both benefit from the trade. You'll also both get the evolved Pokemon added to your Pokedex, so it's a win-win.
