There are lots of different aspects to Stardew Valley beyond mere farming. You can mine, fish, craft items, get married, have children, and even engage in battle with different creatures when venturing into locales such as the mines. Needless to say, it's handy to have a good weapon in hand.

Stardew Valley weapons come in many shapes and sizes, especially with some massive content updates since its initial release, and their perks vary. With all of these choices, which ones are really the best? In Stardew Valley, the "best weapon" can be subjective based on your play style, making them hard to definitively rank. But we can rank them by the amount of base damage they do with every swing, as well as any added benefits the weapon may have.

Updated December 26, 2025 by Gabrielle Castania: With the addition of new weapons in the 1.6 update, while we didn't add anything new to our selection on ranged weapons, we're updating our list to help you find either the coolest daggers or the best swords in Stardew Valley.

Place a Far Away Stone on the plant pedestal in the Wizard's Basement

This one is going to require quite a bit more questing, since you'll need to reach a source of lava to use the Ancient Doll - which you can find either on floor 100 of the Stardew Valley mines, or over in the Volcano Caldera at the top of the Volcano Dungeon on Ginger Island.

Hunting down all the Golden Walnuts in Stardew Valley? We've got you covered with a guide detailing where to find them all.

Once you get that precious resource, the Far Away Stone that drops when you use the Doll on the lava, you'll be able to place it on the pedestal at the Wizard's Tower back in Cindersap Forest to receive one heck of a weapon in Meowmere, added in the March 2024 version 1.6 update.

Break boxes and barrels in the Stardew Valley Mines between floors 80-90

First up on our list, we have the Yeti Tooth. Despite its short appearance, the Yeti Tooth is a sword instead of a dagger, described as icy to the touch. Unfortunately, the sword doesn't have any actual chilling effects to speak of when used in combat, but hey, maybe someday in a future update?

The Yeti Tooth packs quite a punch when you land a critical hit, providing a good defensive buff as well. With these two potent power-ups combined, you can use this early-game sword to make your way through the mines, especially on your earlier ventures inside.

  • Speed: -3
  • Defense: +3
  • Weight: +3
  • Break boxes and barrels in Skull Cavern (Floors 40+)
  • Possible Remixed Reward from the chest on floor 90 of the Remixed Mines

The Tempered Broadsword isn't the speediest sword you'll get in Stardew Valley, but it's great when it comes to keeping you safe. With an impressive boost to defense and weight alike to make up for how long it'll take to swing this cool claymore, you'll pack one heck of a punch.

In the advanced options menu when creating your new save file, it's possible to add remixed rewards, which change what you'll get from various treasure chests in the Mines, as well as from the Community Center Bundles.

17 Wicked Kris

  • Crit. Chance: +4
  • Possible Remixed Reward from the chest on floor 90 of the Remixed Mines
  • Break barrels and boxes in Skull Cavern (special drop)
  • Break barrels and boxes in the Quarry Mine

If you don't end up grabbing the Tempered Broadsword from the remixed mines when you hit floor 90 and open the chest there, you'll get the Wicked Kris dagger instead. Said to be "made of an iridium alloy," any player who relies on their close-range work with daggers in combat will find plenty of use for this rarer drop.

If you're looking to make big money in Stardew Valley, these are some of the most expensive items you can sell.

While the change to your chance of landing a critical hit is the only real stat change to speak of with the Wicked Kris, being able to get in close and land a damning blow on your enemies is always a good idea!

The chest on floor 90 of the regular Stardew Valley Mines.

Obsidian Edge is a sword-type weapon found deep in the mines. This dark and intimidating sword will lay waste to your foes, and its harrowing look adds to its intrigue and mystery. Given its obsidian nature, it's also a hearty and well-constructed sword. Add in that its a set drop on floor 90 to boot, and you've got yourself one heck of a weapon.

While it does lack a bit in speed, it more than makes up for it in sheer damage and critical strike chance. If you own this sword and opt to sell, you can obtain 300g from the sale, which will definitely help prep your farm for the seasons ahead.

The Steel Falchion might not be the best sword Stardew Valley has to offer, but this sword has some great stats that really make it a good weapon, especially if you can get it early in your new save. After reaching floor 90 in the mines on your first run through, go speak to Marlon at the Adventurer's Guild to pick up this sweet sword for 9,000g.

Swords are already a quick weapon, but the Steel Falchion also has a speed boost that makes it even faster, and it's got an impressive boost for your critical hit power, too. Although its damage only comes in middle of the pack, it's still a viable choice for weaponry, especially early on in a new save.

With its obvious red blade, the Lava Katana is hard to miss when you see it in the shop after you've completed your very first run through the mines in Pelican Town. Be sure to visit Marlon to pick up this blade forged in lava, but be ready to part with a cool 25,000g for the pleasure.

It's definitely a step above most other basic weapons, and it's an absolute must-have for making the journey through the Skull Cavern, the tougher optional dungeon out in the Calico Desert for if you're not quite challenged enough by the basic mines. If you're into heavier weapons that pack a punch, this one's for you!

The Dwarf Sword is a no-nonsense weapon that provides the best combination of Defense boost and damage output, great for those wanting power but less risk of grave bodily harm. It also boasts a sweet speed boost, meaning it will spend less time swinging and more time hitting.

Stardew Valley: Where To Find All Ginger Island Fossils

If you're looking to find all of the fossils on Ginger Island in Stardew Valley, we've got the location of each one listed right here.

This is a Volcano Dungeon chest drop, which unfortunately means its precise location and drop time can be tough to predict. Fortunately, the Volcano is a fun dungeon to go through multiple times and offers many random drops to collect on your way, especially if you're collecting things all around Ginger Island.

Combine a Galaxy Dagger, 60 Cinder Shard, and 3 Galaxy Soul at the Volcano Forge

Considered the best dagger in Stardew Valley, the Infinity Dagger is a weapon that must be crafted, not found or purchased. After you've cleared the Volcano Dungeon over on Ginger Island and unlocked access to the Forge up there in the Caldera, you'll be able to make this dazzling dagger, a weapon that changes four of your five main stats for the best weapons in Stardew Valley.

It has the highest damage available for a dagger, which means it will move very quickly to deliver that damage even quicker. Even with that amount of damage, this weapon can be lethal enough, especially with so many creatures trying to hurt your farmer in the Volcano itself.

11 Iridium Needle

Dagger

Stat Changes

How to Get

20-35

  • Crit. Chance: +6
  • Crit. Power: +200
  1. Chance to drop from Special Slimes with the Shrine of Challenge active
  2. Chance to drop from Special Slimes with the Danger in the Deep quest active

This tiny dagger, the Iridium Needle, is so sharp it can separate atoms. It's pretty hard to come by, but if you decide to farm for it with the Shrine of Challenge active to change up the enemies you'll encounter in the mines below, it's possible to attain the highest critical strike chance in the game.

While the base damage range of the Iridium Needle is fairly middling, you'll find that a staggering boost to your critical hit power can be irreplaceable when you're one-shotting enemies from time to time.
