There's plenty of fun to be had in Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds no matter if you're bravely taking on the various Rivals in the game in the name of unlocking some new characters, or if you're looking to try playing the game with friends either through local co-op or even an online mode.
Every Sonic Racing Game, Ranked
We line up all the Sonic racing games and see which comes in first place.
Thankfully, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds offers a number of unique ways to experience its multiplayer, with six unique game modes to bring something to the table other than just standard competitive racing. If you're looking for a different game type you can enjoy with friends, head to Race Park.
Visit Race Park To Play Unique Multiplayer Game Modes
While the grand prix tend to be the main focus on any good racing game like Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, you'll no doubt want to play with your friends before too long. Thankfully, Sega thought ahead and gave us not one but seven multiplayer game modes to experience and enjoy.
To begin playing the games below, you'll want to go into Race Park from the main menu after selecting your racer, Machine and any customizations you need to make to it first, and Gadget Plate. In this menu, you'll find something of a fairgrounds set up, with seven individual tents around the park to offer a new multiplayer game mode.
If you've been trying to find how to play one race without needing to do a whole grand prix, this is where you'll find the option to do so. Additionally, if three tracks isn't enough for you and your friends, you can choose to compete in up to 12 races per grand prix by playing a custom game from this Race Park menu.
You can also play Race Park games as a solo player, with the game stepping in to offer AI Rivals you'll need to beat the same way you beat regular Rivals in the standard grand prix, also offering rewards as progression goals. No need to wait for your friends to log in - and you'll even get the chance to practice a little on your own before it's time to compete.
Team games keep track of a Team Gauge to allow everyone on said team to use a Super Team Boost once the meter is completely filled. This will happen automatically to each racer on the team when the gauge fills, and will last until it depletes. Additionally, you can get boosts in team games when bumping into members of your own team, so be sure to help one another out.

Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds masters speed, it just needs some better courses to make the most of it.
Triple Team Games
Triple Team Ring Grab
Three teams, one mission: get those Rings!
You'll divide into three teams of four with the mission of collecting as many golden Rings as possible during your three laps around your chosen track. The more rings you have, the faster your max speed will be, so it's always important to make sure you've got a full stock of rings as often as possible.
You're not tracking your current number of rings for the bonus, but rather how many you've collected throughout the three laps of each race overall. The team who collects the most Rings will earn ten points to be added at the end after teams' cumulative points are totaled, giving a healthy boost to any team greedy enough to go for all that gold.
It pays to separate from your team here, since you'll have a better chance for Rings to respawn with distance between you. Additionally, once of the best items you can hope for during this game mode is Omochao, who flies along with you dropping a steady stream of Rings you'll collect automatically as you drive.
Triple Team
Run into your allies for a kick of speed!
Once again in three teams of four, the goal of this game is to drive directly into your teammates as many times on the track as possible, since you'll gain a noticeable boost for doing so. This is additional to the Team Gauge at the top, which will also help give you a helpful Boost.
The trick here is to try and stick with your teammates as much as possible, choosing the same routes when racetracks fork into different paths and trying to stay near one another on the leaderboard as well. You'll be grateful for the colored thread to show where your teammates are relative to your position on this one!
The team's score is tallied at the end, extra points are given to the team that tapped one another the most, and a victor is declared. Again, you'll earn ten points if you've bumped your allies more than other teams.
Double Team Games
Double Team
Take aim and attack the opposing team!
This game divides players into two teams of six, both with the goal of hitting the other team with the most Attack items during each race. The game will track how many times you use items to hit opponents, with only Attack items appearing to be available for the duration of these races.
Due to the nature of the game, you'll find almost exclusively Attack items on the track in this game mode, with combative items like Red and Green Fists, Monster Trucks, Slicers, and so many more on offer to go head-to-head more aggresively.
Clustering with other racers can be pretty prohibitive of you getting item boxes, so be sure to leave a little breathing room for them to recharge if you aren't in a high-placing position coming up on a row of items.
Double Team Dash Panel
Dash off to victory!
Another game played in two teams of six, your objective here is to hit the highest number of Dash Panels embedded in each racetrack, as well as the Dash Gates that swirl often around the finish lines. You'll be racing as normal, but you'll find the courses seem to have additional Dash opportunies to faciliate the challenge.
Again, each team will have their points tallied, and the number of Dash Panels and Dash Gates the team managed to use will be added to the team's collective score. The team who hits the most chances for a boost will have ten points added to their score.
Other Race Park Game Modes
Quick Match
A 12-player race to the finish!
With all players racing individually instead of on teams, don't worry about setting the rules - just get down into a good, old-fashioned race. If you're not looking to play a full grand prix at the moment, choose tracks individually to play one by one with a full slew of 12 racers, with the game filling in any non-human player slots with computers set to a normal competitve level.
Extreme Match
Race with only the heavy-hitter items!
Are you getting tired of how many Omochaos and Boosts you get from the item boxes in regular races? This race is every driver for themselves, with only the most destructive items available from item boxes. You'll be receiving plenty of Attack items in this game mode, with Monster Trucks, Red Fists, and Typhoons aplenty. Good luck out there!
Custom Match
Pick your own rules and hit the tracks!
For some multiplayer that changes the rules of regular grand prix play, you can opt for custom matches in Race Park. You're able to choose the items that appear, which CrossWorlds you'll choose between, and set all kinds of rules from round count to COM level to what effect Frenzy has on the denoted tracks when chosen as CrossWorlds.
