See AllA third Xbox price hike is coming, just months after Game Pass got cheaper
As an early adopter of both the PS5 and Xbox Series X I went into 2020 knowing I was going to pay the highest prices for the consoles, but in return I would have access to any game I wanted to play the day they were released.
6 years later I actually paid the least amount for those consoles. That is just crazy.
Target's fight against Pokémon scalpers seems to be heating up
My local Target has the same policy. As was mentioned it basically means one of each item.
For example you can buy the following at the same time:
1 Strixhaven booster pack
AND
1 Strixhaven Bundle Box
AND
1 Strixhven Commander Deck
but if you try and buy a second of the same item the POS flags it and will not allow the sale until the offending item is removed. I'm unsure if it extends to different sets or not as my local Target never has items for more than one set on hand at any time.
Despite everything, Lego isn't worried about Pokémon resellers
I guess they aren't worried about scalpers because outside of the Kanto starter set they all look really bad, especially compared to other licensed sets.
Sony raises prices for all tiers of PlayStation Plus, not just Essential
Seems like it is intentionally vaguely worded on Sony's part. "...the existing subscription changes or lapses" on the surface seems like as long as you don't cancel/change your subscription your price will remain the same, but at the same time a any of these subscriptions could be considered "lapsed" when they are up for renewal depending on how you interpret the wording.
Guess I will keep an eye on my bill and see which version Sony is going with.
PlayStation and Xbox have learned painful lessons about exclusives
I don't think exclusivity was ever a bad thing, if anything it helped define your console's identity before every game became the same because of risk aversion. SNES was your console of choice in the 90s if you wanted RPGs and Genesis was what to own if you wanted sports games.
There was just a subset of people who wanted everything handed to them, and were quite vocal about it for a while. I understand and appreciate that some people could not, for a number of valid reasons, acquire the necessary device to play some games, many of the vocal people against exclusivity were of the entitled "I already own this other thing, why do I have to buy your thing?" variety.
From a business standpoint, I think companies like Sony and Microsoft are finally coming to a realization that exclusives are just gains with no actual losses.
Anytime someone buys your console to play a new game you released, it is a net positive. Your income increases and your installed base increases.
If someone can't, or simply chooses not to, buy your console to play your new game that doesn't equate to a "lost sale". Those people had no reason to buy your game and were never going to give you money in the first place.
As Forza Horizon 6 takes the world by storm, a competitor is shutting down entirely
My response was directed at the "...if you wanted to play Forza Horizon 6 before its official release date, though, that's for sure, because that will set you back $120" statement in the article because that is demonstrably untrue, and I offered a solution that provided a less expensive way to play it, if anyone was interested.
If you don't want to pay $70 for a game, then don't, wait for a sale and spend what you want to spend. But if someone just didn't want to spend $120 on a single game to play it early, then there was a different way to experience it. Or they can wait 4 days and pay $70 to play it, with no restrictions.
