Oh My Gandhi Witcher notwithstanding, most RPGs are around 20 hours of CONTENT stretched an additional 80 hours of time wasting padding and/or grinding.
We got about 23 scenarios into FH after finishing every scenario in GH and several runs through JotL. You could say we are fans.
However... Frosthaven Scenarios just got unnecessarily obtuse. There are several missions that are just difficult to the point of being some of the least fun we've had. And you'd think that if we finally win there'd be a sense of joy. Nope. Just exhaustion.
So yeah. We house ruled. Not because we were playing it wrong it's just not fun Rules As Written and there's a good reason that people aren't finishing FH the way they finished GH.
I love how every member of the party you site either personality or actions the character did. Yet Tifa was the example out of game. Because Tifa neither had a personality nor did anything meaningful in OG7.
Cait Sith's identity was a major reveal. And I agree that Rebirths mission went long, but it gave the character a much needed room to stretch.
Tifa, on the other hand, wasted her moment to tell us Sephiroth was really the bad guy. (As if that wasn't made entirely clear 20x by that point.)
"Anymore"..? It never did. They were barebones RPGe, trivially easy, had next to zero story, and we're all pretty much the same consistent, but mediocre game.
But everyone thinks fondly of the generation they grew up on. And that those past it were bad despite being nearly identical (except SV which was identical but ran like hot garbage and looked when worse.)
To anyone who was an adult the entire time, that curve is mostly flat. Pokemon never appealed to adults. It never had to, and it still doesn't have to.
It's been perfectly fine preying on their nostalgia (for those that have it) and it will be fine continuing to prey on nostalgia. Just... Don't make it run like hot garbage again please.
First of all, Venom isn't inherently evil and Sam Raimi did more damage to the character than anyone has. The whole Knull storyline retcon was made in response to the NEW Venom that admittedly isn't as interesting.
But the first two new movies were actually faithful, to the OLD Venom as he is probably one of the more interesting Spider-Man villains, most of whom could be summed up as "he crazy."
Venom (as in the symbiote) has a lot of potential as a character. And Tom Hardy did a great job with him. But the dialogue was just SO bad. So we are replacing Tom and keeping the same awful writers? This is going to go poorly.
I love how remakes and remastered get grilled for not doing enough but DQ gets a pass. Honestly, the remakes could make them worse and people would still glaze them.
I think the only case this direct made is that third party AAA is obsolete, and needs to die- no matter how many layoffs that means. They're a blight on the industry and need to go.
Even if the fetid corpse of an industry we once loved sticks around, we need to constantly remind ourselves just how bad it is and set our expectations accordingly. First Party and Indie is all we need.
How people are pinning this on Nintendo is beyond me. Hating on Nintendo is fun, but this pile of disappointment was brought to you by believing that none of these companies were taken over by shareholders long ago.
Do you care more about being technically correct, or effective? The problem is that overusing the term devalues it and desensitizes people to it. Look at politics with the word fascism and how it has basically lost all meaning and punch, especially now that ACTUALLY fascist things are happening. It doesn't matter anymore. Nobody seems to care.
Anti-Consumer actions used to have sway, but at this point, it's already desensitizing people to basically mena "the Internet is unhappy, ignore them."

In defense of FF7's Cait Sith

C I presume they're talking about 480 on CRT looking fine because the natural "anti aliasing" provided by the CRT.
480p on LCD has always looked atrocious. Just play an emulator and don't upscale, just stretch. It's awful, and it's always been awful.

A wildly underrated Final Fantasy game is coming to Xbox Game Pass
No, it's not criminally underrated. It was horrible. The Pixel Remastered made the game TOLERABLE, and therefore is easily the best way to play it.
But the version on Xbox is MONUMENTALLY better than the original. And it's still quite bad. Just not AS bad.
Steam's new personalized release calendar fixes the 'I didn't know that was coming out' problem
This, or the total opposite of fawning over games that are arguably not even games, just self congratulatory puff pieces.
