See AllMarvel's Wolverine is fighting the most ridiculously complex online war in years
They are in the business of selling PS5 consoles and getting people into their ecosystem though, so it’s kind of understandable they would rather have you buy a console. Look how successful M$ has been with their strategy.
Plus, once a next console from M$ comes out and would actually be able to play PC games, it would be really unwelcome if you could just play all the latest PlayStation games on your new Xbox, no?
The God of War TV show is making yet another shocking recasting decision
Bringing up Bella Ramsey in TloU Season 2 as a positive example is quite bold. I think she did a great job in season 1 and I like her a lot. But season 2 was far too quickly shot und the change of the original character was impossible for her to convey. Not only visually, that is tough to achieve anyway, but her character arc was imho quite badly fumbled. In the game she is so beaten down and lost all her humanity. The game takes a lot of time to bring that across, while the show just rushed through the scenes. I don’t know if that is the fault of the adaption it simply not possible, but the show didn’t convince me in the slightest of Ellie’s change.

Have you … ever seen the games? You ever noticed a difference in appearance between the actor playing the role and the role he played? 😅
You’re actively hurting the legitimacy of the problematic practice here, you do know that?
After splitting from Xbox, Double Fine lays off 23 employees
Aculeus I like Tim as much as anyone, he seems fun. But stories like this always rub me the wrong way. The company has to let people go to survive financially. Of course I get that, since you can’t run a studio with 80odd people on the profits of Keeper and Kiln and Microsoft basically was the money fountain that didn’t ask questions. But let’s not forget, that somebody seven years ago had a big payday. Is that money gone? Did it go to the company or a new garage? 👀
But maybe Microsoft payed like 2,50$ for the company and I’m taking it off my ass. 😂
Is that a game industry problem, a general corporate problem or capitalism? Or am I getting too old for this? Either way, it annoys me beyond belief.
After splitting from Xbox, Double Fine lays off 23 employees
My probably heretic question is: How much money did Microsoft pay when they bought Double Fine, who received that money and where is it now? Or did the buying price pay the employees for all these years?
Honest question, since it just maddens me to see these things happen over and over and over again. :(
Despite publisher cutoff and studio closure, Burnout veterans are keeping the dream alive with Wreckreation 2
This is so weird, the more you think about it. Did they hire everyone back? Did they take then all over? Do their employees have to start fresh? I have so many questions unrelated to the actual game. 🙈
This industry has a business plan problem. If your studio is not sustainable just after releasing a game, whatever deal you had with whatever publisher, is broken.
But hey, just launch a new studio, hire the same people again and the cycle starts anew. At some point we need to acknowledge that this industry is not healthy and all the love and support for a game can’t help this. Either your studio is too big or your game. Or your expectations for your game. 😅
I want to believe that it must be feasible to create a small and focused burnout successor with slightly modernized visuals with a small team. Wreckcreation took several years and still came out underbaked and over ambitious. There has to be a middle ground without betting everything on red and making the livelihood of your developers dependent on that big bet.
