Hairy per Google: "The average play time for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is about 51.5 hours for the main story, 127 hours for main quests plus side content, and 174 hours for a 100% completionist run."
20 hours for an RPG is definitely on the shorter side. They are, almost by definition, super long. 20 hours is about on par with a decent length shooter. Hopefully there is replayability with this one, as game length is not everything, but it is a bit surprising.
So, I remember a decade ago, watching Jim Sterling play absolutely horrific Steam Early Access games and give incredible mini-reviews of them, both good and bad, but the second they noticed an asset flip, had no issues laying into the grift on display.
This feels so much more amplified, and it also sounds like indie games of all stripes (and as the article, the reviewer doesn't like alot of 2d games) catch strays, which can honestly dictate a game's success or failure, especially tiny indie projects that rely on the algorithm to gain exposure.
I know it's a common refrain for someone to say, "I couldn't care less" and then someone responds with, "well, you cared enough to post" and the other person would say, "yeah, so what?" before both people get into a scuffle and eventually decide to settle their differences with a hacky-sack challenge, but...I really honestly couldn't care less.
I am becoming more and more convinced that, for whatever reason, 3d sonic just doesn't work. I enjoyed Adventure 1 and 2 enough, but they weren't without their issues. The core issue will always be how to resolve a high sense of speed while still feeling like you are in control. Sonic in 3d feels like a pinball machine, or when you do the Roadie Run in Gears of War.
With this game, I get X-Blades vibes from the cartoony character models coupled with a super realistic setting and photo-realistic texturing. This is a game that could have benefited from a far more stylized look that would exaggerate movement using film tricks from anime and/or racing games.
If they threw the Burnout guys at this franchise, I'd be fascinated to see what they came up with.

Bullet Train, Bros, and every other movie you can stream from home this weekend
I haven't the slightest idea why critics had a hate hard-on for Bullet Train.
Movie was an absolute blast.
Sonic Frontiers almost pulls off its open world
