Martin Either you're confused about which part I'm talking about, or you're being insanely charitable, because that enemy freezing up and falling over looks really bad. I'm the only one complaining about it? where? lmao, there are 6 comments here (including your 2) and half of them are about jank. You seem to be oddly invested in defending this game. You created your account just to white knight here? Dude, come on.😆
So much jank. wth is that @ 0:40 ? I'm baffled as to why they'd include that in the trailer. I guess it's just been so long since crappy doom clones were a thing, polygon just isn't equipped to deal with it.
These big tech execs are obviously a full on embarrassment which has infected most of the industry, 'tis true. But nobody has been doing MBA cringe as laughably, or as long as microsoft. Go watch any microsoft event really, but especially xbox events, going back the last 20 years. They're always just peak try-hard dweeb baiting. Don Mattrick is joke of a human being. Phil Spencer was just as off-putting in a completely different way. If you look up "fake it till you break it" in the dictionary, you'll find a picture of Asha Sharma.... Nobody does it like Microsoft. I honestly can not believe they can do any of this with a straight face. Imagine running MS's AI division, and then getting reassigned to XBOX and going on stage like "wooohooo, Clockwork Revolution, check it out dudes!"
skagboy It's really wild how confidently wrong so many people are about Bond. No matter what the new Bond is doing, it's always wrong and everybody knows it.
I honestly don't see how that will be possible. Nintendo seems to have committed to a wide generational overlap, and game development timeframes have ballooned absurdly. TotK taking seven years to produce a game that is seen by many as a very high quality DLC doesn't bode well for the next Zelda installment, but who knows maybe they've been working on it in earnest for a half-decade by this point. I sure hope that's the case, but I fear it will realease on the Switch 3 or whatever it is, and be forced to target the Switch 2 hardware.
"soaring achievement" I genuinely don't understand this. The primary gimmick was fun and well designed, but it broke the whole spirit of the game for me. Once I made my first hoverbike, it killed any interest I had in traversing the world... which is a very bad thing for a sprawling open world game. That was the best part of BotW, which was not a perfect game either, but pretty much everything in that game funneled you into exploration. It really reminds me of playing Skyrim with some silly mod installed; that's not necessarily a bad thing, but I don't consider Gary's Mod to be a soaring achievement either.
Are those screenshots supposed to be highlighting some kind of improvement? I'm sure the game looks and plays better with the Switch 2 upgrade, but those both sides of those side-by-side shots look like the same smudgy, aliased junk from Switch 1.
Man, I don't know. The physics are very good, but "utter miraculous achievement" is a glazing too far. BotW ran on the Wii U. TotK is not so much more impressive that running on the Switch seven years later is really that impressive.
Gokart Mozart You could say that about any game. IMO there's nothing that makes Skyrim so special as to warrant perpetual releases forever. The PS4 version plays on PS5. The Xbox One version on Xbox series. This is obviously just my opinion, but it takes a particular strain of creative bankruptcy to do what Bethesda does with Skyrim; and a particular strain of Stockholm syndrome for consumers to continue buying it.
Yes and no. The specifics, yeah it's all item descriptions. But its optional and sporadic, so not exactly a lore dump. There's also a lot of environmental storytelling that gives you a lot of vibes and hunches, so that even if you never read a thing, you'll kind of understand some things here and there.
That said, your discription of every souls game is hilarious and true. That's why I roll my eyes right out of my face whenever some swooning fanboy brings up GRR Martin's "collaboration" with Miyazaki to "build the universe." Bullshit. Those dudes 1000% just had lunch once or twice while having the most basic ass conversation about storytelling through a translator. Game of Thrones hadn't shit the bed yet, and meeting GRRM was on Miyazaki's bucket list, and he had the juice to make it happen. If the truth is anything more complicated than that, then it is absolutely hilarious that he somehow just wrote a reskinned Dark Souls.
I played Skyrim at launch. I played Skyrim for quite a while. I played through Skyrim 3 times. It was fun, no doubt. But holy hell, who is still buying it in 2025, on platforms that don't support mods?
Sounds like it's time for the entire internet to go full-frontal-fair-use on Halo. Use CoPilot to make AI images of Master Chief doing whatever the hell you want.
Yenret Steam survey has MacOS at 1.9%, but yeah, there's no way of knowing what percentage of that is exclusive to Mac. I'd guess that accounts for less than half of them. Possibly far less.
polygon_user_m4vi7sjc Are these other OS' in the room with us now? PC gaming is Windows gaming. The only semi-viable "alternative" is Linux, which is only semi-viable because everything runs through an explicit Windows compatibility layer.
"If there was no Windows and arguably DirectX, there would be no PC gaming as we know it today."
Be happy for your gruel, because without it, you'd have no gruel! This is a tautology. Technically true, without Windows we'd have no Windows gaming. It's also meaningless and brings nothing to the conversation.

Doom meets BioShock and Overwatch in the coolest new shooter in years

Turns out Xbox wasn't too big to fail, it was too big not to

007 First Light completely retcons Bond as we know him, to great success
Tom Holland was the first person I thought of with that smirk in the article photo.

Video games ignore asexuality. This dating sim deconstruction is changing that
As if I needed to understand the dating sim genre less....
Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy is secretly a Mass Effect game
If you ignore it being nothing like a Mass Effect game, you can't unsee it! lmao.
My 2025 GOTY was Tears of the Kingdom on Switch 2

The Voyager game drops you into Star Trek’s ultimate ethical debate
It is heartening that they're making this game, and not Picard: The Battle of 800 Identical Ships.
