He retired from acting and didn’t want to be in it, I’m sure they would have loved to have him. Also DS9 is great but there were 52 episodes in the first two seasons and it doesn’t get consistently good til the third at best, the first ten episodes of this are way better than the first ten episodes of DS9 or TNG.
