    I'm so immensely thankful for this recognition, which made me reflect on my 19 years with Vorys and my early mentors and cheerleaders who pushed back against my self-doubt and impostor syndrome when I was starting out as a general litigator - looking at you Marquettes Robinson, Kyle Weigand, Liz Ratliff, Gayle Horwitz, Alycia Broz, Bob Webner, Jackie Ford, Marcel Duhamel - to my second home with Vorys eControl where Whitney Gibson and Daren Garcia took a chance on me and offered me an incredible opportunity to pivot into a most innovative, exciting, and rewarding practice we are still building every day. I'm grateful, looking forward to what's next, and hope that I continue to deliver great value for our clients and create space and opportunities for young lawyers who are looking to find their own path.

    I landed in Seoul and got punched in the face. 🇰🇷👊🏻 Several years ago, I would have defaulted to Korea being an “interesting” but not “critical” market for many brands in eCommerce. We supported a handful of clients over the past 8 years or so and things were relatively quiet. Fast forward a couple of years and now it’s: “How fast can we get on #Coupang?” Spending the last several days in Seoul meeting with local partners, platforms, and accelerators has made two things very clear: 1. Korea is a massive “right now” growth market for Western brands (Coupang changed the game). 2. Korea is also a market where a unified channel control strategy is critical to optimal commercial success. The brands that win here don’t just “go live on a marketplace.” They’ll show up with a plan for: • authorized seller management • a legally viable strategy for mitigating both domestic and cross border unauthorized sellers • and an obsession for tying control actions to business performance metrics (not just “takedowns”). If you’re a Western brand chasing growth in Asia, get to Korea, stat! And don’t treat “control” as the boring follow-up project. Here, it’s an integral part of the growth strategy. As the work here continues to increase dramatically, I’m looking forward to many more trips to massive, hyper-fast Seoul. Vorys eControl

    Maybe it's MAP, maybe it's mismatched data in your Google Shopping feed. If your brand isn't monitoring Google Shopping daily, inaccurate pack sizes, variations, or colors can quickly erode advertised prices across your entire omnichannel ecosystem.

    Your Google Shopping feed doesn’t break quietly. It can drag advertised prices down and disrupt sales across your entire omnichannel ecosystem. When advertised prices erode, brands’ kneejerk reaction is to blame MAP violations, unauthorized sellers, or repricing algorithms. They often miss one critical factor: their Google Shopping feed. When Google Shopping product data is mismatched, e.g., wrong pack size, variation, color, etc., the wrong price is often advertised, quickly triggering disruption across the online ecosystem. The quality of the information fed to Google Shopping is a critical pillar of control. Authorized sellers must be held to manage this appropriately. Unauthorized sellers, who often maintain sloppy and inaccurate feeds, must be properly removed. And brands must be vigilant in monitoring Google Shopping on a daily basis to address these issues as they arise and before they can cause widespread commercial harm. Because once inaccurate pricing information hits Google Shopping, the damage quickly spreads literally everywhere.     First trip of the year as reality begins to reassert itself. Some brands are just starting to get their arms around online channels. Some are mid-cleanup after years of leakage. Some are already sophisticated and are able to focus on maintaining the great progress they’ve made. Different places on the control curve. What doesn’t change is this: control is a never-ending journey; full of twists and turns, surprises and wins. And wherever a brand is on that curve at the start of the year, the direction matters more than the starting point. Forward beats perfect. Vorys eControl
