I was honored to witness the launch of Techstars Uzbekistan in person, organized by UzVC and Hackonnect. Many thanks for inviting me and DOMiNO Ventures to this event. It’s inspiring to see how the ecosystem is steadily evolving, with a growing number of talented founders and new programs emerging to support innovation and entrepreneurship. В эти дни, отмечая международный женский праздник, который напоминает нам о силе женщин и их роли в обществе, особенно хочется отметить историю команды Hackonnect. Три молодых, амбициозных девушки- Madina Mirzakhalilova, Азиза Хамдамова, Мадина Зокирова, которые когда-то начинали свой путь с волонтерства и работы со стартапами, сегодня превратили свою инициативу в полноценный проект, получивший официальный статус и лицензию Techstars Uzbekistan. Но эта история — не только про акселераторы и экосистему. Это история про силу молодости, женскую энергию, амбициозность и профессионализм. Команда Hackonnect всегда поддерживает и наши инициативы особенно в стартап-направлении в рамках WERISE. Official Launch and Presentation of Techstars in Uzbekistan On March 5, the official launch and presentation of Techstars Uzbekistan, a Startup Community Partnership took place in Tashkent. The initiative is an international program aimed at developing the country’s startup ecosystem and is implemented in partnership with UzVC and Hackonnect, who represent the global Techstars network in Uzbekistan. The event brought together around 150 industry representatives, including participants from the public and private sectors, investors, bank executives, and leaders of the IT and startup community. Techstars is one of the world’s largest platforms supporting entrepreneurs. Since 2006, more than 4,900 startups have participated in its programs, and the network connects thousands of founders, investors, and mentors worldwide. Unlike the standard Techstars model, which grants the right to host programs in individual cities, UzVC has received the exclusive right to conduct events across the entire country. The program will offer several key formats for startup development: • Techstars Startup Weekend — a hackathon where teams are formed and startup prototypes are built within 54 hours. • Techstars Founder Catalyst — a 10-week online pre-accelerator designed for early-stage startups with mentorship and training. • Startup Week & Community Lab — 5 and 1 day summits aimed at strengthening the entrepreneurial ecosystem, with the participation of international mentors and experts. • Techstars Startup Digest — a regular digest of insights and news from the global startup ecosystem. Already at the initial stage, around 50 startups from Uzbekistan have applied for the first-ever Techstars Founder Catalyst selection in Central Asia.
