➡️ Bethany is right. Relationships matter and building those trusted relationships are a critical part of the #job process. #AI Engineers might live and breathe AI on a daily basis --but, as we've found, they don't want to be contacted by AI agents or do a screening #interview with an AI video interviewer. Finding the right fit is more than putting skills and experience into a seat. It's understanding pain points, managerial styles, and the read-between-the-lines team dynamic. #BacktoBasics

Will AI replace technical recruiters? Maybe for some of what we do, but here's what I don't lose sleep over... Principal ICs are not on job boards. They're not applying to your ATS. They move through trusted relationships built over years. AI can source, but it can't have the conversation I had with a Staff Engineer in 2022 that led to a placement in 2025. Senior engineers know immediately when something is automated. It's inauthentic and they disengage. They expect someone who actually understands the difference between their current scope and what they're being asked to step into. Closing a principal-level offer isn't a workflow. It's a negotiation involving comp philosophy, equity structure, title, team dynamics, and most times.... a candidate talking through a decision with someone they trust. And the market intelligence piece? Knowing which teams are struggling, which managers are difficult, what's really happening at a company - that lives in relationships and conversations. Not a database. AI is changing this job. I'm using it every day. The core of what makes a great recruiter at this level, though, hasn't changed... Do the people you work with actually trust you? That part's still human...
