🚆 A landmark for #rail digitalization and sustainable #transport in the Nordics. In Finland, we have successfully demonstrated automated train operation (ATO) on a major intercity route equipped with the European Train Control System (ETCS) – the first-ever such operation in the Nordic region. The test took place on a 19 km route between Juurikorpi and Hamina, using a modernized train operated by @VR-Yhtymä Oyj. During the trials, our system showed it can reliably deliver: • Precise automated stops, achieving 30–80 cm accuracy from 100 km/h • Smooth acceleration • Controlled braking under real-world operating conditions The demonstration also highlighted the seamless interaction between ETCS Level 2 and onboard automation, ensuring stable, repeatable, and efficient train operations. The project is part of Finland’s Digirail initiative to modernize the country’s rail network. It sets a blueprint for how #DigitalTechnologies can improve capacity, punctuality, and energy efficiency – all while making the most of existing rail networks.

Impressive milestone! 🚆👏 At Znexsoft, we see this as a powerful example of how intelligent automation and digital infrastructure can transform traditional industries like rail. The integration of European Train Control System with ATO to achieve such precision and efficiency is truly remarkable. This is exactly how digital technologies drive sustainability, optimize performance, and unlock the full potential of existing systems. Excited to see how innovations like this shape the future of smart transportation! 🌍⚡

Autonomous train operation on intercity infrastructure is a much harder problem than controlled test tracks. Real route conditions, mixed traffic, legacy signaling — Finland getting ATO running in that environment is a meaningful proof point. Rail is actually one of the better starting points for real-world autonomous systems. 🚆

Congratulations to Siemens on pioneering automated train operation in Finland, advancing rail digitalization & sustainability.

30 to 80cm stopping accuracy from 100km/h is seriously impressive for automated operation. ETCS Level 2 combined with onboard ATO on real intercity track is a big step beyond the usual metro-only demos. Finland's Digirail initiative is worth watching closely. 🚆

Impressive results on the Juurikorpi-Hamina route! Achieving 30–80 cm stopping accuracy from 100 km/h is a testament to the precision of this ATO integration. 🚆 The seamless interaction between ETCS Level 2 and onboard automation is the real game-changer for repeatable efficiency. This isn't just a test; it’s a blueprint for the future of Nordic rail. Great work by the team!

This is the future of rail where automation meets intelligence. Demonstrating ATO over ETCS Level 2 on a live intercity route is a game-changer for capacity, precision, and energy efficiency. A powerful benchmark for global rail transformation.

Precise automated stops and energy efficiency are exactly the results we look for when coordinating industrial expansion projects at the KCCI. This Digirail initiative is a masterclass in making the most of existing networks. Are you open to discussing how these rail digitalization benchmarks can be applied to new international transit corridors?
