From this week’s Liner Notes, Rae Stewart—Harmonic’s Director of Artist Success and an Americana/folk musician—shares her three indie artist picks. Here’s what she had to say about Irish artist Katie Phelan and her phenomenal song “Nothing Stays the Same.”
Alright Ray, your three independent artist picks tell us who we should be checking out and why you love them. Number one, I just discovered this artist named Katie Fallon. She's an Irish singer-songwriter and she has a song called Nothing Stays the Same. True. Just changed. Yeah, the walls were blue. Now all the rest is saved. I think I actually found it on like the Irish Spotify playlist. But I was going down a rabbit hole of Irish artist because for whatever reason, there's these Irish bands that are breaking in the States and they all come do their first show at Hotel Cafe. I've become like the de facto opener for the Irish breakout artist, which I love, maybe because I'm also from an island, but I think Ireland is having an amazing moment. Their music and obviously you know, in a lot of ways the origin of folk music comes from Celtic, so I'm freaking loving it. And Katie Phelan, I think she's pretty young, she's just getting started and I love her music.
