GameRant Editor-in-Chief Anthony Taormina went hands-on with Control Resonant from Remedy Entertainment Plc.
You play as Dylan Faden as he fights for his humanity and our survival against a reality-bending cosmic threat.
Are you going to play the game when it releases?
So what I got to play was roughly 3 missions. There was an intro section and then there was a little bit of the open-ended world. So you got to get your get your bearings with the combat, figure out the abilities, and you get a little bit more than you would have at the beginning, obviously. And then I got to play a full mission. But I really enjoyed it. It's very different from Control. It's very different from anything really that Remedy has made thus far. It is character action. It's RPG, yeah. You're hitting square to do combos. You're pressing triangle to do like kind of a secondary attack. You're mixing in these abilities, like picking up rocks and hurling them at enemies. You're like sending out a flame shield. So there's like, a lot, but I really, really enjoyed it. I love character action games. It was really intense in places, but I had a great time and the there was one boss fight that was phenomenal.
