Anthony Taormina got the chance to play Ubisoft’s upcoming remake of the fan favorite Assassin’s Creed Black Flag. Is the game shaping up to be the return to form fans have been waiting on?
Let’s answer some rapid-fire questions on Black Flag Resynced with GameRant editor-in-chief Anthony Taormina and Christian Buckley.
Hidden blade in combat, you can't use it directly, but did you feel that was robbing you of an experience that you had in the original 1? Not not me personally, I don't have as strong of an attachment. But yes, I can understand where the criticism is. Like when you did your takedowns, sometimes they would let you use it, but it wasn't you couldn't directly use it as far as I remember. Are you happy with the blood level? I never really noticed. I would say some of the takedowns are pretty flashy in the way they, you know, he finishes them off The there's one where he's like kind of goes like a spinning stab. Maybe there should be more blood there, but. So like, it's not the end of the world. Sea shanties. Did you get to hear any of them? I did. So there are new sea shanties. You can kind of cycle through them. You can say like, this is the sea shanty. I wanna hear all the time. You know, the bring the tea and rum song that everyone knows. And that was the one that I was like, OK, where it we're in it. We're in it. Any, any notes on fishing? And I got to see underwater stuff. But we know railings in the original. I know fishing is a hot commodity in games these days. So yeah, any any chance of that? The whaling is in there. I didn't see it when they gave us the kind of like open world section. They were like, do whatever you want. You can see whaling. We can do this and that. And then it was like, I don't know what to do. You know, you're crippled by choice. So I tried to see as much as I could, but I, I saw other people playing whaling, so I saw it and I know it's in there. Obviously they've shown a good bit of it, but I didn't experience it. And then for customization, any, any hints of any added ways to make Edward more personalized like in recent Assassin's Creed games? It did seem like there's going to be a little bit there for him, but it seemed like customization is bigger for the ship.
