Conversations with AEC executives for the podcast have been beyond outstanding. Guys with 10 and 20 years of experience sharing their lessons learned and their path through the industry. Now, these episodes will air over the next couple weeks. But I couldn’t wait to share a few I’ve learned along the way. Communication is king. 👑 If you don’t learned to communicate well, you can’t be promoted. It’s sharing what’s been done to arrive at a solution. Giving your team, nice, easy, digestible information. Technology is coming and here in most cases. Learn or get left behind. You don’t have to be the expert, but at least know how it works. The longer you do something the better and more proficient you get. There’s so much more! But couldn’t hold these back until the episodes are released over the next couple weeks.
Lessons learned from AEC executives: Communication, technology, and experience.

Thinking about starting a podcast or video series but feel overwhelmed by the gear or setup? You’re not alone, and the good news is, you don’t need much to begin. The best first move? Start simple and start now. Use your phone. Get comfortable speaking. Iterate and improve before you invest in fancy equipment. Most people aren’t naturals on day one, and that’s okay. Clarity and confidence are built through repetition, not expensive tools. Once your skills grow and momentum builds, then consider leveling up your gear. The key is consistency, not perfection. Start small. Stay consistent. Let progress guide your upgrades.

One of the simplest ways to build trust? Respond to every review. In our chat with Dale Dixon from the Better Business Bureau, he explained why acknowledging feedback, positive or negative, goes a long way. A quick thank you shows customers you’re listening, strengthens your reputation, and proves consistency. Over time, that consistency becomes trust, and trust is what closes deals. 🎙️ Watch the full podcast on YouTube

One of the best moments at ConneXions was hearing Gina Shuler from Home Telecom on the main stage give a shout out to the Buffering Podcast. Hearing her say: “I have gotten some really great ideas and insights, and I highly recommend it” says everything about its impact. Buffering was created to help BSPs succeed—by sharing practical strategies, real-world examples, and fresh ideas that can be put into action. And none of this would exist without Gabe Petersen and Zack Kilgore. Their creativity, commitment, and ability to consistently deliver high-quality content week after week—while managing full-time roles—is inspiring. They’ve turned Buffering into more than a podcast; it’s a trusted resource that customers genuinely value. When leaders like Gina share how much Buffering helps, that’s the ultimate win. We're doing something we've never done before on the Agency Profit Podcast: sharing the intimate details of a real client project. In the latest episode of the show, Carson Pierce and I pull back the curtain on a recent assessment to share the behind-the-scenes of not only what we found but how we solved it. We get into everything you'd want to know: - What challenges this client was facing - What they had tried - The exact steps we took to gather, clean, and analyze their data -The questions we asked to uncover the context behind the data - Our diagnosis and our recommendations - How we adapted our recommendations to their specific context If you've ever wondered what kind of conversations my team and I have behind the scenes when we start working with a new firm, this episode sheds light on exactly that. Honestly, I think this is one of the best ideas we've had for the show and one of the most insightful episodes we've ever published. I highly recommend tuning in; I think you'll pick up a lot of nuances in terms of how to apply the theory of profit management in the real world. Link in the comments!
