Today, DCYF, in partnership with the San Francisco Adult Probation Department and the SF Department of Public Health released the Community Response & Violence Prevention Initiative (CRVPI) Request for Proposals (RFP). The RFP provides up to $3.1 million per year to support coordinated citywide violence prevention and intervention services, including street outreach, conflict mediation, community de-escalation, and safe passage. The Monitor required the NYPD's Neighborhood Safety Teams, Public Safety Teams, and Community Response Teams to reach 85% lawful compliance by the third quarter of 2025 and 90% by year's end. With one exception — stops in the third quarter — the NYPD failed to meet the established compliance benchmarks. The NYPD must do better. Public safety has always been one of the Cabell County Commissions highest priorities, and I’m proud to announce the completion of Cabell County’s new countywide P25 radio communications system. This $4.5 million investment will provide better coverage, clearer communication, and faster coordination for our volunteer fire departments, EMS, and law enforcement—helping keep our first responders and our residents safer when every second counts. This project has been more than five years in the making, and it would not have been possible without the dedication and teamwork of so many people. I want to sincerely thank our 911 and Emergency Management Director, Nazim Abbess, our volunteer fire departments, EMS, the Cabell County Sheriff’s Office, county staff, our technology partners, and everyone who played a role from the very beginning in seeing this project through to completion.
