Meet Patrick Ray, Knowledge Graph Engineer at Cedar. Patrick found us the way he finds most things: by obsessively thinking through hard problems. In this case, the question was: How do you model the complex world of housing rules and regulations? He's spent his career figuring out how to represent knowledge—from how the brain encodes information, to submarines building collective maps of the ocean, to modeling diseases in biomedical informatics—eventually earning a PhD. Now he's applying that expertise to understanding the web of zoning, permitting, and building codes that slow down new housing.
