Amazon, is making a serious mistake and engaging in an illegal and unethical practice. The Consumer Code is very clear: customers may cancel purchases in any situation. However, Amazon is depriving consumers of their legal right by preventing them from cancelling a purchase due to failure to meet the delivery deadline. This practice is liable to a fine from PROCON and a claim for moral and material damages in the Special Court for Small Claims. It is Amazon’s obligation to cancel the order if the consumer requests it within the period stipulated by current Brazilian legislation; this is not a favour. Article 49 of the Consumer Protection Code (CDC), also regulated by Decree No. 7,962/2013 (E-commerce Law), guarantees the right of withdrawal, allowing consumers to cancel an online purchase within seven calendar days of receiving the product or subscribing to the service, without having to provide a reason.
$269.3 billion in sales last year and yet you refuse to publish any sort of customer service phone number or offer any way of interacting with a real person. The level of disdain you show for your customers is truly remarkable.
