It was a pleasure to have high school student Samarth Kasaraneni work in our lab this summer at The Feinstein Institutes, Northwell Health! Working closely with Dr. Amanda Loke, Samarth developed a novel quantification tool to track the movement and trajectories of colorectal cancer cells within a neuron-tumor co-culture preparation. His analysis of ECHO spinning-disk confocal time-lapse videos, using a combination of TrackMate and custom code, demonstrated that cancer cells consistently migrate towards peripheral sensory neurons over a 12-hour imaging period! #cancerneuroscience #NextGeneration
