Exciting day for the team as the full IBM LinuxONE 5 family is now generally available. As I talk with organizations about AI, security, resiliency, and infrastructure efficiency, one thing is clear: architecture matters more than ever. With IBM LinuxONE Emperor 5, LinuxONE Rockhopper 5, and LinuxONE 5 Express, organizations now have more flexibility to scale the same platform across a wider range of deployment needs. What stands out to me is that this isn't about adding more system choices. It's about giving clients a different path forward at a time when infrastructure costs, complexity, power consumption, and AI demands continue to grow. Across the LinuxONE 5 portfolio, clients get the same foundation of AI acceleration, quantum-safe security, efficiency, and Linux workload consolidation capabilities. Congratulations to everyone who helped bring these systems to market! IBM’s message is clear: the traditional approach of continuously adding more servers to scale IT infrastructure is reaching its limits. Key points highlighted: • Infrastructure costs are rising across power, hardware, software, and operations. • Many enterprise systems are underutilized, making the traditional scale-out model increasingly inefficient. • AI workloads are accelerating demand for compute while also increasing infrastructure and energy requirements. • Supply-chain constraints and component shortages are adding further pressure. • The industry needs to move toward consolidation, higher system density, and greater efficiency rather than simply adding more systems. • IBM LinuxONE 5 demonstrates this approach by supporting high-volume workloads on fewer, more powerful systems, while offering AI acceleration, quantum-safe security, and workload consolidation. In one line: IBM LinuxONE 5 makes a strong case that the future of enterprise IT is not about adding more infrastructure, but about building smarter, denser, and more efficient infrastructure.

Exciting day today - the full LinuxONE 5 family is now generally available! The AI era is exposing the limits of traditional infrastructure approaches, driving organizations to rethink a scale-out model that adds cost and complexity as demand for compute, power, and data movement continues to grow. The future of enterprise IT will be defined less by expansion and more by consolidation, efficiency, and operational simplicity. LinuxONE 5 is designed with those priorities in mind, giving organizations a platform to consolidate Linux workloads, improve infrastructure efficiency, strengthen cyber resiliency, and accelerate AI adoption without compromising security or scalability. The future of enterprise infrastructure is not defined solely by the systems we build, but by how effectively we manage them. As IBM z17 single frame and IBM LinuxONE Rockhopper 5 reach general availability, IBM is introducing IBM Infrastructure Management for Z and LinuxONE to help clients transform infrastructure operations through greater visibility, automation, and control. By bringing infrastructure resources, topology insights, lifecycle management, and API-driven operations into a single experience, organizations can reduce operational risk, accelerate modernization initiatives, and position themselves for a new era of autonomous operations. A modern infrastructure platform deserves a modern management experience. 📖 Read the announcement blog: https://ibm.biz/~OQDCt7QhH #IBMZ #LinuxONE #z17 #Rockhopper5 #InfrastructureManagement #AI #DigitalInfrastructure #EnterpriseTransformation #Simplification #Modernization

💡 The AI experimentation to full deployment paradigm today is very much about harnessing faster models. It’s also about avoiding the dreaded vendor lock-in trap. In a recent chat with TechGig, our Country Manager for India & SAARC, Marshal Correia, shares how SUSE is helping enterprises tackle this challenge head-on. From powering India’s digital public infrastructure to delivering private AI frameworks, our philosophy stays simple: zero forced lock-in. Whether it’s the underlying Linux OS, Kubernetes platform, or GPU infrastructure—you deserve absolute choice at every layer of the stack. 👇 Read more via the article in the comments. #OpenSource #AI #Virtualization #PrivateAI #DigitalSovereignty

Part 5 of my Building an OpenShift AI Lab series is now live! I thought Part 4 was going to be the last one. That didn't quite work out. This entry covers the network incident that took the original cluster offline, attempting to recover it on my home network, eventually rebuilding it, and some of the changes we made before bringing it back into the office. That includes tighter egress controls, model caching, additional network observability, and finally getting back to validating our vLLM and vLLM-Omni workloads. There were definitely a few lessons learned along the way. “Prepare for unforeseen consequences.” https://lnkd.in/djpT7sCk #OpenShift #Kubernetes #AIInfrastructure #vLLM #llmd
