“…Industry analysts and public relations leaders are highlighting a profound structural shift in global consumer behavior, identifying sports tourism as a primary driver of international travel rather than a secondary niche. With major international competitions filling annual calendars, destination marketing organizations are recognizing that high-profile athletic events generate unmatched global media exposure and long-term brand equity. Consequently, cities and national tourism boards are aggressively restructuring their marketing strategies to capture major sporting spectacles.

You've never met her. You don't know her name. But her TikTok video just booked out a hotel. 🤷♀️ 🤫 That's not weird; it's just how trust works now. We used to believe brands. Now we believe strangers, as long as they seem real. A hotel's own ad says "trust us." A stranger's shaky 15-second video says "I was actually here." We believe the second one, every time. 🤳 The most powerful marketing team a hotel has right now isn't in-house. It's a stranger with a phone and 2000 followers. 💡 Curious how this is reshaping tourism marketing? Let's connect 🤝 #TourismMarketing #TravelTrends #DestinationManagement

"Popularity" marketing is still too common in travel marketing. For years, the industry has prioritised reach, follower counts and visibility in influencer-led campaigns. But, when everyone uses the same creators, formats and platforms, destinations can start to look disarmingly similar. What we actually need to strive for is authenticity and differentiation - to represent unique destinations as they really are. Our Managing Director Sophie Bell gave her thoughts to Travel Trade Gazette (TTG Media), arguing that the most effective destination storytelling isn't always driven by the biggest personalities. Often, it's local experts, niche voices and people with unique experiences who reveal the stories that audiences haven't heard before and the ones that are the most compelling. Happy to see our regional KOL campaign for Taman Safari Indonesia Group featured by Marketing Interactive! ✨ The idea was simple: bring creators from different countries to experience Taman Safari and share it with their own audiences. 🌏 Beyond awareness and content, this campaign helped us reach new regional markets and introduce Taman Safari to more potential international visitors. 🎏 Big thanks to Merita Sekenaria and the team for the great collaboration and for making everything happen smoothly across markets. 🤝 Always happy when marketing goes beyond exposure and supports the bigger business goal: bringing more people through the gate and creating more room for growth. 🚀 Special thx to Aditya Aditya as always yaaah.

What happens when a media brand stops being something you simply read… and becomes something you can actually experience? This article from License Global talks about how The Arena Group is taking brands like Men's Journal, Surfer, Powder and Athlon Sports beyond content and into travel, hospitality and real-world experiences. But this is much more than putting a familiar logo on a hotel. The Arena Group is leveraging something digital publishers have that traditional media historically hasn’t: 👉 A direct, two-way relationship with their audience. As Eric Karp, Head of Licensing at The Arena Group, explains, digital publishers can survey their audiences, understand what they want and gauge purchase intent before investing in a new product or experience. Instead of: Build → Launch → Hope people buy It becomes: Listen → Validate → Build → Activate And The Arena Group already owns the platforms, editorial channels, newsletters and audience relationships capable of driving people directly into those experiences. The media platform isn't just the brand - it's also the research, marketing and distribution engine. The ambition is impressive: The Adventure Sports Network has opened its first resort in Cap Cana, with more reportedly in the pipeline, while Surfer, Powder and Athlon Sports could all find their way into hospitality and experiential concepts. But my biggest takeaway is Karp's point that every extension needs to feel “earned rather than applied.” That distinction is everything. The future of brand extension isn't putting your logo on more things. It's understanding why people love your brand in the first place - and finding new ways for them to live that relationship. When done right, you're not just monetizing an audience. You're building an ecosystem. https://lnkd.in/gydBvbJE 🌎 🏝️ ✈️ 🎿 🏄 #BrandLicensing #LocationBasedEntertainment #ExperientialMarketing #BrandExperience #Media #Hospitality #Travel #BrandStrategy #AudienceEngagement #Innovation

📍 One destination is no longer the whole plan. Rome2Rio latest audience insights show that only 1 in 5 travelers visits a single destination. The rest are building something bigger: ♦️ 34% plan multi-city trips from the start. ♦️ 33% begin with one destination and discover more along the way. ♦️ 76% say transport options influence the destinations they choose. For destination marketers, this creates a powerful opportunity: your destination isn’t just a place to visit, it’s a launchpad for the entire journey. Because today, the journey is part of the discovery.

Alaska Airlines values the qualitative as much or more than the quantitative. This is the power of Experiential Marketing. Note the subtle changes in appreciation of the nuanced differences in audience from Coachella to Stagecoach. The devil is in the details and our team obsesses on the details!
Alaska Airlines’ festival strategy is a great example of what happens when brand experience connects to a bigger business story. At COACHELLA and Stagecoach, Alaska brought together culture, travel, loyalty, hospitality, and partnership in a way that felt natural to the moment and true to where the brand is headed. As Alaska expands its global reach and celebrates Atmos™ Member Day this August, experiences like these help bring that evolution to life in ways people can actually see, feel, and participate in. Thanks to Event Marketer for highlighting the work, and proud to support Alaska in creating experiences that add to the moment rather than interrupt it.
