AI startup Perplexity AI announced the launch of Personal Computer, a new product designed to function as a user’s digital proxy. The announcement comes just weeks after the company introduced another agentic tool. According to the company, Personal Computer is built to “orchestrate all of your tools, tasks and files from any device, anywhere.” In simple terms, the system acts as a persistent AI assistant that can work on a user’s behalf—researching topics, drafting emails, generating daily briefings, and managing workflows without constant supervision. The new product runs on a dedicated Apple Mac mini device and operates within a secure environment designed to protect user data. The system maintains a detailed audit trail of every session and requires explicit user approval before executing sensitive actions, giving users transparency and control over what the AI agent does. Personal Computer also supports multiple leading large language models, allowing users to choose between models such as Claude, Gemini, and Grok. One distinctive feature is the ability to run several models simultaneously, enabling them to interact with each other to refine responses or complete complex tasks.
