𝐆𝐥𝐨𝐛𝐚𝐥 𝐔‑𝐬𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐝𝐞𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐟𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐲 𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 🤝 Today at XPONENTIAL Europe the panel “From Zurich Across Europe: A Global Perspective on U‑space Implementation” brought regulators and industry together to discuss how to move from ambition to operational reality. Federal Office of Civil Aviation Switzerland FOCA’s report on the first field test in Zurich, with live operations in controlled airspace, shows what real deployment requires: a structured onboarding process, live field testing, and the willingness to learn from what does not go according to plan. From GUTMA’s perspective, scaling U‑space depends on reusable, globally relevant industry frameworks. Our role is to help authorities and service providers avoid reinventing the foundations in every jurisdiction. Members from GUTMA's Executive Committee, Amanda Boekholt and Reinaldo Negron, highlighted how GUTMA is advancing practical building blocks such as SLA framework requirements and models designed for U‑space applicability and adaptable across regions, including beyond Europe. A sincere thank you to all the speakers for sharing concrete insights, lessons learned, and a truly global perspective 👏 Michael B. | Amanda Boekholt | Reinaldo Negron | Stéphane Vaubourg | Andrew Hately

✈️A successful final validation exercise for SESAR Network Trajectory-Based Operations (#TBO) Project Solution 3, which aims to improve flight path synchronisation & predict aircraft trajectories more accurately in the future. Strong 🤝 partnership between #EUROCONTROL, Leonardo, BULATSA & ROMATSA demonstrates how innovation & collaboration are shaping a more integrated & resilient European network. 🚀 Key achievements in this validation exercise include: 📌 Technological innovation: Introduced advanced methods for exchanging #OLDI coordination and transfer messages between participating #ANSPs. 📌 Performance validation: Response times of #OLDI over #SWIM remained within acceptable limits, with no degradation compared to legacy FMTP. Further offline analysis will provide quantitative validation. 📌 Realistic validation environment: Even in shadow mode, operational realism was ensured - controllers from #BULATSA & #ROMATSA monitored live frequencies and manually input instructions. 📌 Seamless data sharing: Successful publication of #OLDI messages to the #EUROCONTROL Network Manager Validation Platform (#NMVP) via Leonardo's SWIM Yellow Profile Connector Dispatcher (OSCD). 📌 Improved trajectory synchronisation: Better alignment of local and network trajectories enhances 4D trajectory prediction (position, altitude, time), supporting more efficient operations ✈️ 💡 Co-financed by #HorizonEurope & coordinated by #EUROCONTROL, this phase brings us closer to a comprehensive final validation. Special thanks to everyone at #TeamEUROCONTROL – Ivan Pendachanski, José Simón Selva, Jorge Valle Martínez, Sergio Leiras Pérez, mesut gurbuz & Jean Boucquey, alongside colleagues at #LEONARDO – Serena Lisi, Mariarosaria Casario, Antonio Strano, Guido Solitro, Matteo Laurenzi & Mattia Marra, #BULATSA's Todor Atanasov, & #ROMATSA's Luiza Zgreaban, Iulian Sanducu & Claudiu CRUCEANU. On 20 March, we welcomed Frederic DELEAU and Benjamin Fichtner, the current and future Executive Vice-Presidents of IFATCA Europe, to #EIH the EUROCONTROL Innovation Hub. IFATCA, or the International Federation of Air Traffic Controllers’ Associations, is the global, non-political federation representing air traffic controllers, dedicated to enhancing aviation safety, advancing the profession, and shaping the future of #ATM air traffic management through international collaboration. The meeting with IFATCA Europe colleagues was a great opportunity to present EUROCONTROL’s #Trajectory2030 priorities for research and innovation, as well as EIH initiatives such as #EATIN, Innovation for ANSPs, and the simulator modernisation project. We also discussed potential cooperation on R&I projects with the involvement of air traffic controllers, the impact of AI and automation, our upcoming FlyAI conference, and future R&I priority topics. Looking forward to continuing our collaboration!
