In November 2025, Anthropic released a breackthrough new model: Opus 4.5 — and since then, I have the feeling that we’ve all been going through a mix of surprise, excitement, and fear about where AI is heading. At least for developers like me, it changed everything. Since then, I became a bit obsessed (as everyone) with Anthropic and its founders, especially with Dario Amodei. He wrote two essays that are worth reading: → Machines of Loving Grace → The Adolescence of Technology I've summarized the key ideas in the deck below — along with a few takeaways.

There are multiple, concrete risks — from misuse by bad actors to economic and political disruption 3. Powerful A.I. can be exploited for destructive ends (e.g., bioweapons, cybercrime), abused by bad actors, accelerate economic inequality and labor upheaval in ways history has never seen. We know the issue, what’s the antidote? We need careful, pragmatic responses — not panic or blind optimism — as Amodei urges evidence-based risk mitigation (e.g., better technical guardrails, government regulations, unified international cooperation) to ensure AI’s benefits outweigh its dangers. ❗ Why it’s Important ? We shouldn't just be auditing AI for "bias" or "safety." We must audit for Alignment with the Eternal. If our technology helps us "conquer" the world but lose our souls in the process, the system has already crashed. Here is the framework for a global Architecture of Reverence: 1. The 80-Year Perspective: Why Grandparents May Hold the Key to Living with AI Yesterday I had the pleasure of speaking to the Horncastle U3A about the connection between farming at South Ormsby and the development of artificial intelligence. What struck me most was a point that emerged during the discussion: grandparents may have a crucial role in helping the next generation understand and cope with AI. Many of the people in the room had lived through eighty years of extraordinary change. They had seen society rebuild after the Second World War. They had watched industries transform, jobs appear and disappear, and entirely new technologies reshape daily life - from television to computers to the internet. They have seen optimism, disruption, adjustment and renewal. A twenty-year-old today is entering a world where AI appears suddenly powerful and uncertain. What they often lack is the long arc of experience that shows how societies absorb change over time. That is where grandparents matter. They carry the memory of how previous generations coped with transformation. They understand that new technologies bring both opportunity and disruption. And they know that human judgement, community and resilience remain constant anchors. In a world rushing to understand artificial intelligence, one of the most valuable resources we have may be the quiet wisdom of those who have already lived through multiple technological revolutions. Helping younger generations navigate AI may not just be the role of engineers and policymakers. It may also be the role of grandparents. What Can Grandparents Teach Us About Living with AI? Following my recent talk to Horncastle U3A, I have been reflecting more on the role grandparents might play in helping younger generations understand artificial intelligence. Many grandparents have already lived through several technological revolutions. They saw the arrival of television, computers, the internet and mobile phones. Each felt disruptive at the time, yet society gradually adapted. Three lessons stand out from that long experience. First, new technologies always feel overwhelming at the beginning. What seems unsettling today often becomes normal tomorrow. Second, jobs and industries change but societies adapt. New opportunities appear as others fade. Third, human judgement remains the most important guide. Technology may change quickly, but values such as responsibility, curiosity and community endure. AI may feel like a sudden transformation, but it is part of a longer story of human adaptation.
