It's been a year since The Trade Desk acquired Sincera. Usually, M&A slows companies down - the complete opposite happened here. The Sincera team hit the ground running and shipped products faster than ever, all in service of giving the industry more transparency on their media. My favorite part of Sincera's approach: They welcome any and all feedback. The good, the bad and the constructive. They welcome debate and genuinely want to improve the user experience. That feedback quickly turned to product improvements. Small edits that improve daily usage ultimately lead to better programmatic performance. That's how everyone wins. Woven Advice put on an excellent event on platform switching yesterday - helped by very comfy seats and tasty popcorn at the Everyman venue. The event provided a timely reminder of the impact of platform choice on firms and clients, and the importance of getting this key part of the financial planning process right. And with a mooted £250bn of assets due to move between platforms this year, the suggestion that 2026 is the ‘Year of the switch’ seems fair. It was great to be part of a really interesting panel discussion on how to manage platform switching well. It’s clear that technology is providing advice firms with ever more tangible and quantifiable insights into the impact of platform and investment selection on client outcomes, as well as the potential benefits from alternatives. But challenges with data integration, data quality, suitability and client engagement still need to be navigated. In order to leverage platform switching in a way that delivers benefits to clients and businesses, it needs to be managed well. Strong product governance and advice frameworks are essential for making sure that (1) the right solutions are provided to the right clients, (2) the switching process manages suitability and operational risks, and (3) the right MI is available to measure the impact, evidence the benefits and spot where things might be going awry. #financialadviser #retailinvestments #platformswitxhing #wovenaevice #ocorian #regulationspecialists

The software sell-off (we touch on this more later) of the past few months accelerated this week on concerns that the latest AI tools will threaten the business models of a variety of companies. The new dynamic is that this sell-off permeated across industries impacting broader U.S. equities. Despite this near-term impact to the “P” in P/E ratios, stepping back, the "E" has continued to grow into the "P", leaving U.S. equity market valuations within recent ranges and flat for much of the past year.
