- Getting things done in projects, supply chains and operations requires coordination among many stakeholders. Miriam Webster defines coordination as the process of organizing people or groups so that they work together properly and well. In a commitment conversation, agreeing on the when will help you achieve this. Remember, time is a limited resource so you can use when to bring up and work through time constraints. First, we need to agree on when the task needs to be completed. Define an exact date and time. If you're coordinating with stakeholders from different locations, remember to specify the time zone. Second, use the discussion about time to coordinate also with external stakeholders like customers and suppliers. Assume they don't have much time. Ask, what is their availability? What time constraints might they have?
