Vice President of Information Technology


About the Role


This role is remote within the United States. Candidates must be located within reasonable proximity to one of the following company facilities: Dayton, OH; Columbus, OH; Moonachie, NJ; Miami, FL; Arlington, TX.


The Vice President of Information Technology is responsible for leading, innovating, and scaling the organization’s technology operations, with a strong emphasis on eCommerce platforms and manufacturing systems. This role provides executive ownership of IT strategy while remaining hands-on and deeply engaged in critical technology initiatives, architecture, and system design.

As a member of the executive leadership team, the VP of IT ensures technology investments are aligned with business objectives, enhance digital commerce experiences, drive continuous process improvement, and improve operational efficiency across manufacturing environments.


Key Responsibilities


Strategic & Executive Leadership

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive IT strategy that supports eCommerce growth, operational excellence, and manufacturing scalability.
  • Serve as a key member of the executive team, contributing to long-term business and technology direction.
  • Lead digital transformation initiatives that improve customer experience, internal efficiency, and system scalability.
  • Own IT budgeting, prioritization, and investment planning to maximize business impact.


eCommerce & Digital Platform Oversight

  • Provide executive and architectural oversight of eCommerce platforms, including Magento / Adobe Commerce.
  • Oversee internally developed application platforms built on PHP, PostgreSQL, and Nginx, ensuring performance, scalability, and security.
  • Ensure seamless integration between eCommerce platforms, internal systems, and enterprise platforms including NetSuite ERP and CRM.
  • Lead enterprise data and analytics initiatives, including development of a cloud-based data warehouse (AWS Redshift) to enable self-service reporting and data-driven decision-making.
  • Drive cloud strategy and execution, including migration to AWS, cost modeling, optimization, and governance.


Manufacturing Systems & Operations

  • Maintain and enhance manufacturing-focused systems supporting production planning, inventory management, quality assurance, and shop-floor operations.
  • Leverage technology to modernize factory operations and improve efficiency, reliability, and visibility.
  • Ensure systems support lean manufacturing principles, supply chain transparency, and end-to-end traceability.
  • Partner with Operations and Supply Chain leadership to align technology solutions with manufacturing and fulfillment goals.


IT Operations, Security & Governance

  • Establish and enforce IT governance frameworks, policies, and procedures across security, data privacy, disaster recovery, and compliance.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with SOC 2 (Type I/II), HIPAA, PII, and other applicable regulatory and security standards.
  • Maintain oversight of cybersecurity risk management, vulnerability management, and incident response.
  • Ensure systems meet internal audit requirements and external regulatory expectations, particularly in manufacturing and data-sensitive environments.


People & Organizational Leadership

  • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing, geographically distributed IT organization across software development, infrastructure, security, and operations.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, continuous improvement, and learning.
  • Own talent strategy including hiring, retention, succession planning, performance management, and leadership development.
  • Collaborate with HR to ensure technology roles are clearly defined, compensation is market-competitive, and professional development aligns with business objectives.
  • Set clear goals, conduct performance reviews, and implement recognition programs to reward top talent.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field; MBA or Master’s degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive IT leadership experience, including leadership roles in eCommerce and manufacturing environments.
  • Proven ability to lead IT organizations through growth, change, and digital transformation.
  • Strong track record of people leadership, team building, and performance management at a senior level.
  • Deep understanding of NetSuite ERP, Magento / Adobe Commerce, and cloud platforms (AWS required; Azure a plus).
  • Strong knowledge of IT compliance, cybersecurity, and manufacturing technology standards (e.g., ISO, GMP, FDA).
  • Experience leading SOC 2 compliance programs and maintaining regulatory readiness.
  • Working knowledge of MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems) and manufacturing-integrated ERP environments.
  • Experience designing, implementing, and optimizing enterprise data warehouses and analytics platforms.
  • Familiarity with modern development and delivery tools such as JIRA, Git, TeamCity, and Jenkins.

  • Program & Project Management: Proven experience overseeing large-scale technology implementations and transformation initiatives using Agile, Scrum, or ITIL methodologies.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts into business outcomes.
  • Change Management: Demonstrated success leading organizational change and driving adoption during digital transformation efforts.
  • Collaboration: Strong ability to partner cross-functionally with Operations, Finance, Sales, HR, and Supply Chain to deliver results.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

This is primarily a remote position, requiring extended periods of sitting and regular computer use. Occasional domestic travel may be required for client visits or company events. Employees are responsible for maintaining a comfortable, ergonomic workspace and taking regular breaks to stretch and move.
