Trade & Brand Marketing Manager
Position Overview
The Trade & Brand Marketing Manager is responsible for driving brand strategy, trade marketing initiatives, consumer engagement, packaging development, and sales support programs that strengthen market position and accelerate revenue growth. This role partners closely with Sales, Analytics, Operations, and Executive Leadership to develop and execute marketing strategies that enhance brand visibility, customer engagement, and commercial performance.
The ideal candidate is a strategic and hands-on marketing professional with experience in consumer packaged goods, food, beverage, or produce industries. This individual will lead brand development initiatives, oversee marketing communications, support customer-facing programs, and manage trade events while ensuring alignment with overall business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Market Intelligence & Business Insights
- Partner with Analytics and Sales teams to evaluate category performance, sales trends, consumer behavior, and market opportunities.
- Analyze retail, consumer, and competitive intelligence to identify growth opportunities and emerging market trends.
- Monitor competitor activity including product innovation, pricing, packaging, promotions, and market positioning.
- Provide actionable recommendations that support strategic planning, revenue growth, and market expansion.
Brand Management & Packaging Development
- Develop and execute brand positioning strategies that strengthen competitive differentiation and support long-term brand equity.
- Lead packaging development, redesign initiatives, and graphic enhancements across branded and private label products.
- Collaborate with internal teams, agencies, designers, and print vendors to ensure packaging accuracy, quality, and timely execution.
- Manage customer-specific packaging programs, artwork approvals, and project timelines.
- Support trademark protection and brand governance initiatives.
Digital Marketing & Consumer Engagement
- Oversee website content, social media platforms, and digital marketing initiatives.
- Develop content strategies that increase consumer engagement and brand awareness.
- Coordinate photography, video, and creative content development with internal and external partners.
- Monitor and analyze digital performance metrics, social media engagement, and website analytics.
- Manage consumer inquiries and feedback, ensuring timely and effective responses.
- Support customer-facing digital campaigns and online merchandising opportunities.
Sales & Trade Marketing Support
- Create impactful sales presentations, promotional materials, product information sheets, and customer-specific marketing programs.
- Support sales teams with customer presentations, launch materials, and promotional planning.
- Manage the development, inventory, and distribution of marketing collateral and merchandising assets.
- Collaborate with customers and internal teams to maximize retail visibility and promotional effectiveness.
Communications & Public Relations
- Develop and execute communication strategies targeting both consumer and trade audiences.
- Manage trade media relationships, press releases, industry publications, and promotional campaigns.
- Oversee trade advertising programs that support product launches, brand awareness, and customer engagement.
- Maintain strong relationships with industry organizations and media partners.
Trade Shows & Events
- Lead the planning, budgeting, and execution of trade shows, conferences, customer events, and industry exhibitions.
- Evaluate sponsorship and participation opportunities to maximize return on investment.
- Coordinate event logistics, vendor management, exhibit development, and on-site execution.
- Partner with executive leadership to ensure events align with strategic sales and marketing objectives.
Budget Management & Reporting
- Assist leadership in developing sales and marketing performance reporting.
- Monitor marketing expenditures and ensure programs are executed within approved budgets.
- Track and evaluate marketing initiatives to measure effectiveness and support business objectives.
- Provide regular updates and performance summaries to executive leadership.
Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate across Sales, Operations, Supply Chain, Finance, and Executive Leadership to execute strategic initiatives.
- Provide direction and support to marketing team members and external partners.
- Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Represent the company at industry meetings, conferences, customer events, and trade association functions.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, Sales, or a related field required.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of progressive marketing experience within consumer packaged goods, food, beverage, produce, or related industries.
- Experience in brand management, trade marketing, packaging development, and customer marketing programs.
- Experience working cross-functionally with sales and executive leadership teams.
- Trade show and event management experience preferred.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong strategic thinking and business acumen.
- Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Strong analytical and market research capabilities.
- Experience leveraging consumer insights and market data to drive decision-making.
- Proficiency in digital marketing, social media management, and marketing analytics.
- Ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders across all levels of the organization.
- Creative problem-solving skills with a results-oriented mindset.
Travel Requirements
- Travel approximately 25–30% for customer meetings, trade shows, industry events, and company meetings.
