ROLE OVERVIEW
As Technical Director, you will serve as the technical lead of US and EMEA events, responsible for the comprehensive technical oversight of all live, hybrid, and digital event productions. This pivotal role acts as the critical bridge between creative vision and technical reality, ensuring the seamless and flawless execution of complex presentation, environmental, and experiential designs within budgetary and logistical parameters.
Based in our dynamic New York City office, you will drive innovation, collaborate with event managers, designers and technical teams, meticulously manage vendor and freelance relationships, and uphold the highest standards of production quality and safety for our events. You will be instrumental in translating creative concepts into detailed, actionable technical plans, proactively identifying challenges, and providing viable solutions from the earliest stages of concept development. Your expertise will ensure that all technical elements from audio and video to lighting, scenic, and rigging integrate perfectly to create truly unforgettable experiences for both in-person and remote audiences. This role will require significant onsite support (50%) that may require travel for both venue site visits and project delivery.
SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES
- 5-8+ Years Technical Event Production Experience: Progressive experience in technical direction or senior technical roles for large-scale live events
- Live Stage Production Expertise: Proven ability to manage all technical aspects of diverse live stage productions, including concerts, corporate conferences and brand activations
- Hybrid & Livestreaming: Extensive hands-on experience with hybrid and livestreaming event production, encompassing multi-camera setups, remote presenter integration, encoding, and platform integration
- Leadership & Team Management: Proven ability to inspire, motivate, and effectively manage diverse technical roles, fostering cohesion and high performance, particularly in high-pressure environments.
- Agency Experience: Ideal candidate has worked in a small to medium event agency environment and has a deep roster of freelance talent and production partner relationships
- Advanced Problem-Solving & Critical Thinking: Demonstrated capacity to anticipate, diagnose, and resolve complex technical challenges creatively and efficiently, often under stringent deadlines and with limited resources.
- Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Ability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly and concisely to non-technical stakeholders (clients, creative teams, executive leadership) and foster effective, cross-functional collaboration.
- Strong Financial Acumen: Proficiency in developing and managing budgets, optimizing cost management from proposal to delivery, skillfully negotiating with vendors, and ensuring the profitability of technical aspects of projects; experience with union labor management preferred
- Creativity & Innovation: A genuine passion for pushing technical boundaries to enhance creative visions and deliver unique, memorable experiential outcomes.

- Lighting Design & Control Systems: i.e. Captur , GrandMA, Hog4
- Audio Production & Mixing Software: i.e. REAPER, Pro Tools, Dante,
- Video Playback & Projection Mapping Software: i.e. PlaybackPro, VLC, Resolume, etc.
- Livestreaming & Encoding Platforms: i.e. vMix, Wirecast, OBS Studio, etc.
