Summary:
Responsible for upholding and improving manufactured product and process quality by analyzing data using leading-edge quality improvement tools and techniques, ensuring compliance with UIC’s Quality Management System and ISO 9001:2015 standards. Be on the leading-edge digitizing quality acceptance criteria (QAC) in our new MES, to identify quality and efficiency improvements.
Principal Accountabilities:
Conversion and maintenance of existing QAC (quality acceptance criteria) in the MES (manufacturing execution system).
Develops and initiates standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation of manufactured products.
Devises sampling procedures and designs and develops procedures for recording, evaluating, and reporting quality and reliability data.
Establishes programs to evaluate precision and accuracy of products.
Records test data, analyzing results using quality tools and statistical quality control procedures, reporting results to team members and management as requested.
Recommends modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within limits of equipment capability.
May collaborate with staff engaged in measuring and testing product and tabulating data concerning materials, product, or process quality and reliability.
Troubleshoots quality and performance issues on the manufacturing floor.
Active member of New Product Introduction (NPI) teams with an eye towards validation of quality specifications and performance standards.
May compile and write training materials and conduct training sessions on quality control activities.
Coordinate machine software selection on the production floor.
Minimum Requirements:
BS Degree in engineering or other technical discipline and 2-4 years’ experience, preferred.
Relevant 2 year degree with 6+ years’ experience or HS diploma with 8+ years’ experience, considered.
Position requires the ability to understand and interpret detailed documents and drawings.
Position requires clear communication with fellow colleagues, and in giving presentations.
Professional experience writing equipment test plans within a manufacturing environment is desired.
Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) is desirable.
Strong mechanical engineering aptitude is preferred.
Reliability Engineering background a plus.
Prior experience with a Manufacturing Execution System (MES) is a plus
Responsibility for Quality Procedures or Direct Product Quality:
Adheres to Universal Quality System policies and procedures and uses Total Cycle Time principles and standard problem-solving tools to continuously improve work processes.
Physical Demands:
Frequently required to access and manipulate various objects, tools, or controls.
Ability to use a computer on a frequent basis.
Remaining stationary for extended periods and needs to be mobile enough to navigate through work areas.
Ability to travel domestically and internationally from time to time; <10%.
Due to direct engagement with U.S. Defense information and related Federal mandates, this role will require U.S. Citizenship in order to be considered.
