TRC’s client, a leading machinery manufacturer in Smyrna, has a direct hire opportunity for an Accounting Manager.

SUMMARY

The Accounting Manager is a hands-on leader responsible for the integrity of daily financial operations and the successful execution of key accounting initiatives. This role oversees AR/AP staff, manages external audit and tax partners, and plays a critical role in ERP implementation and optimization.

This position requires someone comfortable balancing strategic oversight with day-to-day execution in a fast-paced environment.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Operational Accounting Leadership

• Lead and execute month-end, quarterly, and year-end close processes in accordance with GAAP.

• Oversee daily Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable functions to ensure accuracy and optimized cash flow.

• Maintain the general ledger and perform account reconciliations to ensure financial accuracy.

• Mentor and develop AR/AP staff; conduct performance reviews and provide ongoing guidance.

• Oversee fixed assets and depreciation schedules.

• Review inventory counts and ensure alignment between physical inventory and ERP records, including participation in year-end counts as needed.

2. ERP Implementation & Optimization

• Lead final phases of ERP implementation including data migration, system testing, and issue resolution.

• Conduct User Acceptance Testing (UAT) of financial modules and workflows.

• Identify opportunities for process improvement and system optimization post-launch.

3. Audit, Tax & Compliance

• Serve as primary liaison with external auditors.

• Manage relationships with external tax firms to ensure accurate and timely filings.

• Establish and maintain strong internal controls.

• Prepare required financial reports and supporting schedules.

4. Budgeting & Financial Analysis

• Lead the annual budgeting process.

• Perform variance analysis and provide actionable financial insights to leadership.

• Recommend strategic financial improvements based on performance and regulatory considerations.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience

• Master’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration preferred.

• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience.

• 3+ years of managerial experience (5+ preferred in a small to mid-sized organization).
