People Operations Generalist

At Subdued, our stores are the heart of everything we do. As we continue growing in the U.S., we’re looking for a People Operations Generalist who loves being close to our retail teams — someone who enjoys meeting new talent, supporting our stores, and making sure our people operations run smoothly.

This role is ideal for someone who understands retail culture, enjoys spending time in stores, and is passionate about building strong teams. You’ll play an important role in recruiting store talent, supporting payroll, and partnering with store leadership to keep everything running seamlessly.

What You’ll Do

Retail Recruiting:

• Lead recruiting for store roles including Stylists, Leads, Key Holders, and Store Managers
• Source candidates through LinkedIn, job boards, referrals, and local networking
• Conduct interviews and partner with leadership on hiring decisions
• Build strong talent pipelines for current stores and future openings
• Ensure a positive and engaging candidate experience from first outreach through hiring

Payroll & People Operations:

• Support bi-weekly payroll for store teams, ensuring timekeeping accuracy
• Review employee hours, schedules, and overtime
• Assist with onboarding, employee documentation, and personnel records
• Maintain HR systems and support people operations processes

Store Partnership:

• Spend time in stores to understand team dynamics and staffing needs
• Support store leaders with hiring, onboarding, and employee questions
• Help maintain strong communication between corporate and store teams
• Support hiring ramp-ups for new store openings

What We’re Looking For

• Experience in retail HR, recruiting, or store leadership
• Strong experience recruiting for retail or customer-facing roles
• Familiarity with payroll or timekeeping systems
• Someone who enjoys being in stores and connected to retail teams
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• A positive, collaborative approach to supporting teams
