Location: Oregon | $120k + bonus

We are supporting an innovative aerospace company developing next-generation fixed-wing UAV/UAS platforms, now looking to hire a Mechanical Design Engineer with strong analytical and hands-on design experience. This role sits at the heart of product development, focusing on lightweight composite airframe structures and offering full lifecycle involvement—from concept design through to prototyping, testing, and production. You’ll work on aerostructures including wings, fuselage, and control surfaces, contributing to both clean-sheet designs and ongoing platform development in a fast-paced R&D environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
  • 2+ years’ experience in a mechanical design engineering role
  • Proven experience or strong familiarity with composite materials and structures, ideally within aerospace or UAV applications
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes, particularly composite layup/molding, CNC machining, and 3D printing
  • Hands-on experience building and testing engineered systems or prototypes
  • Exposure to aircraft, fixed-wing UAV, or UAS platforms is highly desirable
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work autonomously in fast-moving development environments
  • Willingness to travel occasionally (domestic)

Desired Skills

  • Proficiency in SolidWorks (or similar 3D CAD tools)
  • Experience with Finite Element Analysis (e.g. SolidWorks Simulation, ANSYS, Abaqus)
  • Familiarity with aerospace structures, aerostructures design, or lightweight structural engineering
  • Experience with tools such as MATLAB or Octave
  • Working knowledge of project management tools (e.g. MS Project)
  • Practical experience using workshop tools for prototyping and assembly
