Position Overview

The Engineering Manager leads and develops a high-performing Project Management team responsible for the successful execution of a diverse construction portfolio. This role oversees project planning, financial performance, resource alignment, and operational execution from purchase order through final delivery.

Serving as a key member of the Preconstruction Leadership Team, this individual drives strategic alignment across estimating, design development, and project execution while ensuring consistent delivery of customer solutions across assigned locations.

This leader combines strong construction knowledge with operational discipline, financial oversight, and team development capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Development

• Provide direct supervision, mentorship, and performance management to a team of 10 Project Managers
• Establish departmental structure, role clarity, and staffing alignment
• Develop Individual Development Plans (IDPs) and foster long-term capability growth
• Drive accountability through clearly defined KPIs and measurable performance standards

Project & Portfolio Oversight

• Oversee planning, scheduling, cost control, and documentation across the project portfolio
• Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and aligned with pricing models
• Review schedules, execution plans, and client modifications to maintain operational control
• Monitor financial performance and recommend corrective action where needed

Operational Excellence

• Promote standardized processes across the construction lifecycle
• Ensure effective ERP utilization and workflow integration
• Coordinate cross-functionally with operations, manufacturing, estimating, and field teams
• Monitor inventory alignment with order demand to prevent production delays

Customer & Business Strategy

• Build and maintain strong client relationships across market segments
• Support Business Development through pursuit strategy, presentations, and technical input
• Drive a cohesive Customer Solutions strategy spanning estimating, design development, and execution
• Provide clear communication to senior leadership on portfolio status and critical client matters

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, or related discipline
• 8+ years of experience in Project Management or Preconstruction Services
• 5+ years of leadership experience managing direct reports
• Strong understanding of domestic construction lifecycle and subcontractor coordination
• Demonstrated success applying structured project management methodologies
• Ability to interpret architectural drawings, technical schematics, and specifications
• Experience in manufacturing or production environments preferred
• Familiarity with commercial suspended ceiling systems and CSI Divisions 6, 7, and 9 preferred
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP-based systems
