We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to support production of advanced composite aerostructures at the Kinston facility. This role focuses on developing, optimizing, and sustaining manufacturing processes for large commercial aircraft components, including fuselage sections and wing structures.
About The Site
The Kinston facility is a key hub for composite aerostructures, supporting programs like the Airbus A350, with a focus on carbon fiber fuselage sections and structural components.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain manufacturing processes for composite aerostructures (layup, curing, trimming, assembly)
Create and update work instructions, process documentation, and standard operating procedures
Support production floor activities, resolving technical and process-related issues in real time
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve quality, throughput, and cost
Collaborate with design engineering, quality, and tooling teams to ensure manufacturability
Support new product introduction (NPI) and production ramp efforts
Ensure compliance with aerospace standards and safety requirements
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, or related)
3+ years of manufacturing engineering experience, preferably in aerospace or composites
Experience with composite materials and processes strongly preferred
Familiarity with CAD/PLM systems (CATIA experience is a plus)
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work on the production floor
Nice To Have
Experience with large aerostructures (fuselage, wings, spars)
Knowledge of AS9100 and aerospace quality standards
Lean manufacturing / Six Sigma experience
Experience in high-rate or production ramp environments
